Yahoo is the best site to check your backlinks.

Many directories do not approve links immediately. Some take upto 4 to 5 months to review your link, and then approve or reject. Also, they will take time to get indexed and spidered. Google never shows all the links. As already mentioned, try Yahoo or wait for the next backlink update for Google.

The directories take time to approve the links. Even if they do, it will take sometime to appear in SEs because they will first have to crawl the sites on which your link is, determine its importance and quality etc before they are indexed into the SE cache. Some directories will not inform you if they disapprove your submission.

Google does not like a lot of these spammy type directories. They also are very slow with back links. Directories are usually a bad source of links for SEO purposes IMHO.

    It can take a while
Google ONLY shows 1000 backlinks. That's all.
Besides directory links aren't worth that much to worry about them.

    Focus on relevancy.

Beside, you are most probably on PR0 page which is not what's crawled often..
Even if you submit to a PR7 directory, the page might be PR0...

As Depotgang says, directories have little seo value.

I ran a test and retrieved 16.000 pages of 140 directory-sites and checked if they had a pagerank, and about 200 pages actually had any rank, the rest was N/A. Only pages linked from the index page had rank.

So usually only 'feature' links in top-categories have some 'juice'. I still submit links just for the 'visibility' and for keyword matches, but not for the pagerank.

Dmoz is an exception, that one ranks on every page and their pages are PR5/6.

it can take time for the directories to approve of your site also link: in google doesn't show all of your links, to get a better idea use google webmastertools or yahoo site explorer
