1 site @ $100/day or 100 sites at $1/day? Whats your approach?

How many of you have been succesful in taking the route of creating many small sites as opposed to one or two large sites? It's a lot easier to make a site that makes $1/day, but is it easy to make 100 of these sites?

Should I stop wasting my time trying to jump in and create the next big thing and just go create a bunch of small sites? Does this approach work for anyone?

If so, how many sites do you run, and if you dont mind me asking, how much do you make?

If you're making $1 a day from 100 sites, in addition to clogging the Internet with much more spam than your fair share, you're also spending a lot more time on administrivia like getting domain names, and really dragging down your server, which has to work harder to sort through all those names.

And the answer is, my approach is one big site that I'm interested in and pay attention to and keep the quality high on, and much more than $100 a day.

I am also for fewer quality sites than 100 smaller sites.

I would go for about 5 - 10 sites, so if one drop in rankings I will atleast have some others to back him up.

Will be diffucult to make 100 sites on topics that is of intrest to you.

Whats the difference between making 100 1-page sites that each pull in $1/day and one 100 page site that pulls in 100/day?

Answer: 99X more work for the small sites (getting inbound links, keeping track of domain names, hosting etc)

At least that's been my experience.

yea weather the site is big or small both will have big uptime only thing with big sites is you only do it once with many sites you do it many time I think a nic emix in between works. a few big and few small. that way if traffic or SE's change it doesnt kill you.

I had a similar question come into play recently with a site that earns in the $500/day range. This site could be replicated with $500/day for the additional site realized within 6 months.

Should I build an additional site or should I concentrate on building the brand name of the original site and increase it''s presence on the web?

The latter choice is a better long term BUSINESS PLAN.

What if Google decided to take their technology early on and create many search engines as opposed to building the core brand, I doubt they would be where they are now.

It partly depends on the overall goal you are trying to reach... do you feeel by not building on your existing site it would cause decrease in income for that 6 months? and then you have to ask can i get that additional 500 a day by adding to the existing as there is times where you reach a pinnacle with a site an there just isn't much more earning power then pooring time into may not be wise as building a new site may get more return.. it is all about how much to invest for the return and is it worth it?

BTW google originally concentrated on one thing and now they are branching out :)

I would definately spend my time and money to develope one or a few sites, rathter than 100's.
Its much more easier to manage 1 - 10 sites than 100, and if you are just earning 100 dollars a day it is not worth it. And when should one find the time to make the sites better, to increase the profit, when you have 100 sites to focus on.

I always "develope" a few sites at a time, when they are up and running and stable and making good money I start thinking about launching new projects.

So when you have a couple of sites that have good traffic and makes you $$$ you offcourse can start new sites, because then you probably have the money and resources to build them to good and profitable sites more "easy".

How in the world can you manage 100 websites? Answering emails, promoting the websites, remembering which is which???

I'd say about 5 decent sites, that need some/little attention but are good money makers. And yeah 100 websites would be a pain unless there all adsense ready :)

I just have a few websites, some decent and some building up. I have thought about the 100's of sites path to follow but do not have the time to put in to them all.

The optimal balance is probably closer to 10 sites making $10 per day. This way you, once you reach this point you can work on each site independently at times to bump it up by $1 or $2 a day.

    Yep. Agree with thewindmaster.

You should consider creating a few sites first and once they start earning some revenue that you can start developing other sites.

I prefer to quality not quantity. If you have enough quality then quantity will follow.

I would go for 1 site. It's easier to maintain and improve quality. It's not just about money, but also about making a site that I can be proud of.

count me in with the 10 site theory. One big one and 9 small sounds quite manageable.

Build one site and when it is earning at least $1K a month you will then have the knowledge to expand with other sites. I have over 50 sites and it can be done with a lot of work. It is not a get rich quick scheme.

Think about the best way you can. If you can manage 100 sites with quality content go for it. I can not manage 100 sites for sure.
