It's against the affiliate companies TOS as well.
You're sending worthless leads, they're not interested in the offer, they're just filling it in in order to get the free stuff you promised. Most CPA Networks don't allow this and may ban you.

No reason, but a FREE gift. You already knew it was wrong when you did it. Quit trying to justify it.

Dunno about it being illegal, sometimes things that happen really are "innocent"...

But it's just simply not nice to trick people. How would you feel if you were tricked?

    That's just my two cents!

Then why dont you at least look for something to give them after they sign in? There are tons of ebooks you can give out. I currently use this method you are talking about for some of my incentiviseable (hope there is a word like that) offers, but you see i give them ebooks that i have right to give away for free.

Considering its your only source of income is even more reason why you should make it stick and stop using the hungry hawk approach cos i see the s..t hitting the fan soon.

    Play safe mate...

Why bother creating a business that isn't providing value to EITHER of the parties involved? Ethical considerations aside, it isn't going to be sustainable.

with email marketing all you need is a few people to complain to the merchants you promote in the email and you can find yourself banned on affiliate networks quickly... i wouldnt advise tricking people into your optin list, to make money out of email marketing you want people to be interested in what you plan to sell them

Put your ethics aside BUT make sure the email submit converts for the advertiser or you will get complaints against you.

Business is about helping people not scamming them. IT may not be illegal, I don't know. It's unethical.
