How to make a website step by step

Here's a way to do it.

- Goto www.wordpress.org
- Click to download their application which is a blog-like content management system
- Extract and upload the files to your web server
- Create a database for your new site
- Follow the install instructions and web path to complete the process

There you go, you can start using your new website. Google for a free template that you like, start adding content, etc.

Perhaps it goes without saying... but the first two steps are:
1) Register a Domain Name
2) Get a host - make sure you host supports CMS like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla

Learn step by step. get to know these software such as dreamwerver , fireworks , photoshop.
Learn online , there are many resources.

 

Learn HTML and CSS, that I think the most important first steps in learning how to make websites.
Here's a good book for you to learn CSS:

The CSS Anthology - 101 Essential Tips, Tricks & Hacks by Rachel Andrew - Sitepoint.

 

w3schools.com is also a good resource for those who want to learn HTML or CSS. While at it, also use a search engine to find "free css templates", download them, look at their code and learn

 

definately as said, get a domain name and buy a host (preferably with one click installs of the common CMS like Joomla, Drupal), pick your CMS and learn the CMS... i found joomla at first had a learning curve to it but once I understood it found it to be pretty good (although a bit overcomplex at times)
