Why is a google employee searching for my site?

Discussion in 'Google' started by rolf, Sep 19, 2008.

I found in my stats today, a visit from:

    Google (72.14.195.224)
    Mountain View, California.

Normally this is just a robot visit. But instead, the referring link was:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:www.bbc.com

(I replaced my domain above with bbc.com)

Any idea why a human at Google is searching my site?

You are becoming famous ! ;)

I think there's nothing to worry. It could be related to anything or even random personal visit searching for something !

I would be a bit worried. Perhaps your website triggered some type of spam filter and it is being manually reviewed.

I don't know why they would search Google for your url instead of just typing the url in the browser.

Most likely it is a bot visit, but I wouldn't impress me if it was an employee.

why would they search in Google for that?

How can you even be sure it is a search from within Google? It may be anyone residing in moutain view. Secondly, it may be any of your competitors looking for your site's stats... Or it may well be someone trying to find a specific page on your site (using hte site attribute). There shoudl be nothing to worry. If Google employee has to check your site to ban or anything, he has lots of other means and softwares to do that. And It will not possibly be revealed to you through your analytics program.

Maybe your site contains any kind of virus or Trojan and Google is checking your site. this also happen to me a couple of months ago when my sites infected with some kind of <iframe> and java script type trojans and I also got email form Google. So check that your site dose not contains any harmful virus or trojan.

I think some of you misunderstand. This is not just a hit from Google. The referring URL is a google search for:

    "site:<mydomain.com>"

There's no need for a bot or Google accelerator to do that.
