Hi, I think that content is the best way to market a website. This is a slow, yet natural progression that will benefit you greatly in the long run. Once you have that going, it's all in the details.
If you want to make money, advertise. If this is just a hobby, or whatever, and you are satisfied with just a few visitors here and there, do the "methods" that have been repeated 10,000 times before.
I agree if you want to see money rolling in you're going to have to put some into the website, google ads, advertisers, etc.
