I am the one they send when they have a problem with x, y or z.
    I am the peace maker.

    Wellllllll.......

This year there was a gargantuan increase in oil prices benefitting oil exporting nations and causing pain in ALL Parts of the world, adding to starvation, strikes in Europe and India amongst other nations.....in the late 1990's a financial crisis hit the world eminating out of Southeastern Asia, in the early 2000's a world wide financial crisis threatened as a result of Russian defaults, and in 1989 there was a world wide financial crisis as a result of the meltdown of the Japanese economy.

So....the US is not unique in this regard. Its impact on the world is larger because its economy is larger. Its actions are anything but unique, though.

@ Grim: Very sorry to hear about your health problems. For one thing it doesn't seem to have impacted your posting and style though....

Hope things are on the upswing for you. Meanwhile the US health system is problematic in so far as its best care and its peak advantages generally only come into play for those who can afford it. It continues to get rapidly more expensive.

    Good luck with recovery.

Grim, we've had many (positive) exchanges via PM, but let me say it publicly that I hope for your return to good health, soon and robustly. Japanese concept, gambatte, loosely, "persevere." My thoughts are with you.

His name is Seobiznezz. I wonder if he SEO's exclusively for Baidu(a Chinese search engine) or if he does it for products of American companies like Google? I wonder if he hates everything about America so much, if he's willing to give back or at least give up future money that he will make from a web that is dominated by American companies, ingenuity and people?

And since he's active in the BST forum, I wonder if he accepts money from Americans?
It's people like the OP that bother me the most. Outright hypocrites. At least people like Bin Laden who live in caves are less hypocritical by virtue of them disavowing most of the luxuries of the modern world that the US has so hugely contributed to. But of course even Al Qaeda uses our own technology and openness against us.

Once an ass always an ass, being sick wont stop that :D
    Thanks ;)

Sorry just had to bitch about the health care system, not real pleased ATM.

My wife also has degenerative disks in her back. Doc wants her to have cortizone shots, insurance continues to refuse it.

I have no problem paying it out of pocket if we have to, just sucks that it's $1,500.00 per shot, 1-2 a week!

I really am not anti American, I do not want government in the health care system. It's simply nuts however how bad it can be at times IMHO.

Complaining is very American, I am pretty sure we have that right . . .

to petition the government for a redress of grievances

I got a whole list of 'em. Hope you and the wife don't let the current medical [nightmare] system get you too down. It is tough enough to navigate the health insurance system when nothing is wrong.

The US Constitution guarantees us (Americans) the right - that was the point. There are many rights we have as Americans that others also have. When I say Americans have that right it does not mean others do not also have that right.

Of course, just reaffirming the fact.

On a side note, complaining has it's good points and uses. But when people complain for the sake of complaining, it isn't right.

Well, I would like to start by saying that I am a resident and citizen of the US, and I agree with the OP that the government and corporate powers in this country are causing a great deal of misery, here and elsewhere. We are embarrassed and are working to change the system, but it's not really a democracy here. It has been very frustrating. We live under a regime which cares nothing for human life. We have the largest prison population in the world. We are eager for change. Very few of us are interested in preaching to other countries.

I would like to challenge the idea that the Shrub is somehow our leader of choice. In fact, it is a matter of record that both the 2000 and 2004 elections hinged on substantial and well-documented vote exclusion of millions of minority constituents. Had those votes been tallied, Gore and then Kerry would have been President, with all that implies for the past eight years.

We are victims of a coup by massive election fraud. In this, the US is not alone. And as in every effective dictatorship, those who are prospering under the administration support it, like good lapdogs. They are not, let me assure you, a majority. They do, however, have a majority of the power. Already an attack on registration of voters with foreclosed homes has begun...a "bureaucratic" move to deprive millions of newly poor of the right to vote. If McLame "wins", it will be because of these types of manipulations.

Most Americans are opposed to the same policies that you are, so why be lured into the trap of hate? We are sorry for the violence and repression carried out in our name, but those of us who have opposed these actions since the beginning are not worthy of your hate. Neither are the misguided fools who have allowed themselves to support this insanity.

Hate is a force which obscures understanding. :)
