MAX rep altering power is 10, you cannot go beyond that in any board here on DP. IMHO :D

I'm curious... what does a person have to have done to get a red rep? Can someone give one just because they feel like it? I ask because I got one for posting a link to a product I spent months developing myself, which was the answer to a question someone asked here. I checked the FAQ and it said you couldn't post affiliate links but you could post about your products in the context of a question - or thats how it sounded. I thought I was "within bounds" and I still got a red rep for it. So - the anonymous person who redded me - they could have just been having a bad day or didn't feel like seeing someone else promote their own work? Or did I break some rule that I didn't read in the faq?

Re-reading it, it wasn't so much a question as a comment that i was replying to. But I'm still not sure why it gave me a red reputation. I try really hard to only be helpful, though its hard being a small biz owner in infinite marketing mode... still, I don't want any more of those red things either!

Where do I see what reputation I have?
(I can not find it in my control panel)

The reason I ask it that I have become
puzzled... I thought my signature would
turn up on all my posts? (including prior)

EDIT : Well, nevermind... Now I see my green "building block" :)

    Nice explanation Devin.

but when you red someone he lose half of the total of your rep power.

so if you have 2 rep power, you'll hit him by just 1.
for max rep power i.e. 10 you will hit him by 5 only :)

    Apparently yes :)

I have read somewhere that you can only take half of your total rep power with one red hit, dont remember where. (In shawn's post somewhere)
