Google dance too much?

Discussion in 'Google' started by blackhat33, Sep 16, 2008.

    Hi guys,

I have a question for you. I have 2 websites and recently google decrease the PR from 3 to 0. I know about Google dance. The question is: why google do this? Decrease the rank? The website popularity is increased for the last year. Even google increase the PR from 2 to 3 and after that decrease to 0?

the website content is permanently updated. It's a directory and a classified ads website.
Is there a method to go back to PR 3?

    Many thanks for all answers.

This has nothing to do with the "google dance", the term is not valid anymore as google have daily updates of serps and probably PR too.
When your PR decreases despite no PR toolbar update you most probably picked up a penalty maybe for selling links.

Thanks. I just add Freebies4webmasters banners but I added in other websites too and the PR is the same.
    I'm still confused...

Directories have been on Google's hate list for several months now, so I'm not surprised you lost PR on that domain.
Classifieds ads site sounds like a site Google might have a problem with also, but impossible to know for sure since I don't have the urls to your sites.

I don't think you can pick up a penalty by resubmitting your site to Google.
    Are you still getting traffic?

Yes, same traffic. Maybe more... the resubmit was after one year anyway.

I took a look at your sites and your directory have good results in the Google serps.
You have 19 ranking pages and 1150 pages indexed by google, so only PR seem to be affected.

Your ads site seems even stronger with 81 ranking pages and 1810 pages indexed.

No penalty as far as I can see, hope you get your PR back next update :)
    Good luck.

Dropping from PR3 to PR0 sure sounds like a penalty.

Resubmitting your websites definitely wouldn't give you a penalty. If they did, everyone on here would be busy sabotaging their competitors instead of chasing signature links.

Did you change anything else on your website other than adding a banner?

Did your recently lose a bunch of backlinks?

Since your username is blackhat33, perhaps one of your blackhat techniques resulted in a penalty.

What vansterdam is saying actually means if that the amount of links which used to give you PR 3, were now no longer available and thus your site ended up with lower amount of backlinks.
I still think it's a penalty because they won't just drastically decrease from 3 to 0 like that.

if only pr was affected than you shouldn't worry too much since you are ranking pretty good on serps

    Thank you, guys!
Yes, only the PR is affected but the traffic is increased with 30% at least (Google Analytics).
As lycos said, my problem was why G decrease the PR form 3 to 0?

Still I do not understand. If I got my PR back I will post this here. Thanks again.

I feel for you, because what Google is doing is so wrong and not fair to webmasters

I have seen similar problems and it is ridiculous, because new sites that I started that don't have much going for them have passed some of my older sites that are really good relevant sites

Google is really screwing up things in the last few months
