how important are meta tags for each INDIVIDUAL page? I have all the titles changing on all my pages, but they key words pretty much remain the same
I personally don't use meta tags except for the index page. I would put them at the low end of the pyramid as far as what search engines like.
I have found pretty good success with using meta tags that are unique to each page on my websites. Google looks at pages, not entire sites. And Google may not hit every page on your site depending on where it enters your web and when it exits.
Is it a strategy to have a bunch of redirects to your main index page, and each redirect being a filename such as /subtopic_of_your_topic.html Then to make the title and meta keyword represenative of just that one sub page?
Do keywords even matter? I thought most search engines rely on on-page optimization, titles, and description?
I use meta tags, i personally think they help with your search engine ranking etc... What is the harm in using them? - Just put them in there, if search engines use them...then they use them and if they don't....wellm they wont!
I think you should have separate meta tage for all pages. If you've gone through the effort of keeping unique Title tags for all the pages, might as well keep the meta tage different also. Who knows which search engines these meta tags work good. Also, unqiue and different meta tags will cover a diverse amount of keywords, which IMO will be good for your site pages.
Well I didn't really have time for all the new meta tags and such, but title keywords were easy because I had them in my h1 tags
Same thing here, meta tags have worked great in most of my sites, I usually get top ranking on my targeted keyword.
I doubt you have good rankings based on meta tags .. Does someone have experience with moving pages to supplemental index on google because of using same title and description tag ??
Check this : http://www.seochat.com/c/a/Search-Engine-Optimization-Help/Are-Meta-Tags-Extinct/3/ It says that pages that doesn't have meta tags rank higher at least in this test. Read an article.
