    Hi
How would I install Wordpress to a page on my website. For example I want to replace my articles(www.mysite.com/articles.html) page with the wordpress blog. My host is hostgator and offers wordpress.
So how would I be able to install it to that page only and Could I have my header/logo with my categories on the top as well so it looks like its just embeded on my page?
Also the site was created using a drag and drop software called sitespinner.

You have asked a lot of questions in one go.
I can do all that you have asked, but it will need hit-and-trial.
I'm sorry, I cant type all that long documentation, but goto wordpress.org and look through the documentation files till the time you are waiting for an expert to reply.
Your second question, matching the look and feel of the blog with your site. You need to either design a theme for wordpress or get it designed. The only free way to accomplish this would be installing a theme which looks somewhat like your site and then play with css files of the theme to point to your site-logo instead of the logo thats designed for that particular theme.
This can be achieved after reading through documentation or have someone design a simple wordpress theme for you, which is going to cost some $$.
My experience, most people read the documentation on wordpress site and collect a lot of knowledge that becomes handy not only now but in future too.
Hope you will find your way.
    Regards,
    Andy.

    Delete your old site,
    Go to fantastico panel.
    Select wordpress.
    initiate install.
Type in articles (as the installation directory)
    Click install.

    Done !!

I think you can't do this. You can install your wordpress in mysite.com/articles/ and then to edit your wordpress template by placing custom header and footer.
Also you can made and some "static" pages in wordpress...

The best way to accomplish this would be, either install the blog in a different directory or create a sub-domain and install wordpress on it.

    eg..
    www. XYZ . com / blog /
    or
    www . blog . XYZ . com

It may be a little tough to design it your way www . XYZ . com / blog.html
But, it is certainly possible. Play around a little to figure out how to accomplish that :)

    Regards,
    Andy.

I suggest you to go with Sub category instead of a Sub Domain.
    choose,
    myurl.com/blog

Well, if your website hosted on IIS server, than there may be few problems with the permanan links.

I'm not sure if you could have a blog on a specific file extension. You could create a directory called articles and install the blog there. You could then re-direct any traffic to that page if you have built links etc to it.

Okay here, my website is cryptofgore.com I have some articles under the articles section, that is the section I want to change, so I don't want to delete my whole website, just modify that page.
I actually need a redesign of my whole site, I am just focusing on 1 part at a time though since I don't have the $$$ for a complete re-design

Go to WordPress.org and download zip file. Upload all files included in that zip file into your server and start installation.

Check at your web hosting control panel, may be there is ready made one click option available.

    @theivo:
Thats just great, you have a very polite way to guide someone who is trying to learn stuff. Good job man, Mike is surely getting some useful information out of your polite remarks.

    @BigMike667:
    Here are our options Mike:

    1. Installing wordpress on articles.html (Or renaming index.php to articles.html - that was your main question)
This 'may be' possible, but will require a lot of tweaking. See this post ... http://wordpress.org/support/topic/166522
A moderator replied back to someone's question and clearly stated 'you cannot do that'.
One good reason for that is they way Wordpress is set up. The index.php file is used in many files and changing the index.php to articles.html will result in various issues.

    2. What you can do - Create a folder on the root of your website and name it articles.
Upload all the wordpress files to that folder.
Assuming that you have already created a database for wordpress (you may create a SQL database (Ver 5.x) from your hosting control panel), install wordpress in that directory.
On your homepage, on the link articles, put this link .. http://www.yoursite.com/articles/ (Ofcourse, yoursite will need to be changed to you website name)
It will automatically pickup the index.php file for the blog. Or put http://www.yoursite.com/articles/index.php
Either way, it will work. Having http://www.yoursite.com/articles/ will not show the visitors the index.php and the link will look a little clean as it looks to be pointing to articles page.

Hope that helps. In any case, if you bump into any problem, reply to this thread. We will be glad to help you further.
One more suggestion, have you checked through HostGator Help Files to find out a way to accomplish your task? I doubt they would have some articles on wordpress, but who knows.

And about your other question, I found a useful link. This may help you in giving your wordpress blog the look of your site.

    Regards,
    Andy.
P.S. I don't think any question in this world is 'dumb'. Its just that we are new to things. Personally, if you ask me to describe a jet-engine, I will be looking left and right. I learned a lot of stuff by asking questions which were termed as 'simple question', 'stupid question' by many but I thank those who showed generosity in explaining and clearing up things. Feel free to ask any questions you have on mind Mike .. I can even spare some time to explain things step-by-step. Rock on!

    Thank you netproint!

I am already at the stage of uploading a new theme to the wordpress!
I created the articles section and have wordpress uploaded and everything, but I am just trying to upload the theme, The writing and background and fonts were uploaded, but not the JPG or pictures or header pics were loaded. Do you why this could be?

Thats good to know, everything going smooth so far.
I hope you are uploading the new theme to wp-content > themes
directory. And before using this theme, please make sure, it should not be too old. I mean, it should be compatible with Wordpress 2.6
Otherwise, you may run into problem. Assuming the theme you are using is WP 2.6 compliant, I don't see a reason for the images not showing up.

Did you mean to say that the images are not getting uploaded to your server or did you mean to say, the uploaded images are not showing up on your site?

Ummm never mind, I just checked your site and also, checked this link .. http://cryptofgore.com/articles/index.php

You have uploaded the theme to correct directory and I see that you are using Halloween Theme. I also noticed, the header image file should be at this link ... http://cryptofgore.com/articles/wp-content/themes/Halloween/images/header.jpg

Can you double check, if your header image is in that folder (images folder for theme Halloween)?

If nothing helps, goto Wordpress Control Panel, then goto Themes, Modify themes and then on right side, look for CSS file. I believe, you should see style.css or may be main.css ... depends what the theme designer named it. Click open that file and on left side, try to point to location of header file 'header.jpg'

I would really need to enter your WP control panel to play around to get it working. Try all the above mentioned and see if that helps. In any case, if nothing works, I will try to help you at my best.

    Good luck man,
    Andy.

    Well Mike,
I will need to enter your WP control panel and then give a look.
You can create a new user and give it the administrator rights and send me username and pass through PM.
I will have look at it. I'm sure we can figure this out on our own while we are waiting for some WP Guru to help.
Let me know if you want me to give it a try.
    Regards,
    Andy.
