Google Coop

Discussion in 'Google' started by Shoemoney, May 20, 2006.

I put up links for subscribers on my google coop page and I have only got like <60 people to subscribe.

I have been working on wordpress plugins so people can easily export there blog stuff to google coop but I wonder if anyone is even going to use it ?

    What do you guys think?

Ahhh... that would be part of this thread I started:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=84251
Entering 'celiac disease' (drop the apostrophes) here:
    http://www.google.com/coop/topic?cx=health_devel
will bring you an example of the results page for such things.
Seems this was not there the first time I checked it:
I may not have noticed. Clicking on the link after 'by' shows the profile page.
Got a query we can try, shoemony (sic)? Let me guess, they only allow 8 letters?
I can see where this is handy for promotion, branding, etc. and with good solid additions could make you an expert in your field.
    Here's Search Engine Roundtable (SER):

I am talking about building tools to integrate wordpress into coop and if anyone cares..

You are talking about Google search refining which does not even require you to be subscribed to someones coop account..

I guess the bottom line is everyone is confused about how coopworks and nobody is going to use it.

That would be a handy tool.

And yes, I am still trying to figure it out by following what others are doing and trying to see how it is useful. It may take a bit for it to catch on, it seems a bit confusing.

Rusty how much traffic would you say you get per day from the coop... you have the most people subscribed of anyone I know.

My analytics tool does a horrible job breaking out that traffic.

But I am getting a nice amount of referrals from the coop directory, itself. :)

This is exactly my feeling also. When looking at the process of getting people to USE the coop (the searchers - not the content developers) - it seems to be a non-starter. From the content development side - a WP plug-in would be awesome. BUT, is the time and effort worth it to develop it? I am afraid not, but I could be wrong.

Who actually is using the Coop on a day to day basis? Not I. And I am certain my target market is not either. Oh, well...

I keep wondering this myself. Have you had any success using it? I had planned on looking at it again for publishing stock market data (derived info, not quotes), but still can't get and good understanding as to the benefits of the coop.
