Good ideas that I hadn't thought of. So if I write articles that are based on my niche, where do I send them? I know directories have submit article options now, but you mention prweb. Is that free or paid and do you have any other suggestions on quality sites to submit articles to?
Other than branding (recognition etc) it wont have a direct benefit. Tabbed browsing is becoming more common - present in IE7, Firefox and now Chrome. Your page title will be truncated depending on the size of the tab, itself dependant on how many tabs you have open. By having your favicon displayed you can foster brand recognition regardless if your page title is displayed. Favicons are also used in bookmarks - looks a bit more professional to have one if your competitors dont.
