Joomla Numbers in URL

    This is the first time for me to use Joomla. I enabled the search engine friendly URL's but Joomla adds annoying numbers like:

    http://www.somesite.com/the-news/1-welcome-to-joomla.html

    Is there a way to disable those numbers being placed infront of categories, sections and posts? :)

    I think I researched this problem before and joomla has said that those numbers have to stay in the urls and that they would try to fix it in a later update

    You can get rid of the numbers using artio joomsef. See the FBI site in my sig, no numbers at all.

    you can use sh404sef component for joomla.
    it works for both joomla 1.0 and 1.5
