First make a full backup of your content.

Download the latest version of WordPress. Extract. Upload to your webserver, overwriting the existing WordPress files. Point your web browser to: domain_name/blog_folder/wp-admin/upgrade.php.

Upload it to wherever you WP installation is. Just have a look at the directories on your server, and overwrite them with the corresponding directories in the WP archive.

If you have directories like wp-admin and wp-content etc. in your root directory, then upload the WP update to your root dir.

The automated upgrade isn't working because I had these sites shifted over here from another hosting.

1- Delete ur old wp-include and wp-admin in dir
2- copy new wp files (overwrite old files in root) and if theme is customized then skip this step

    Note:
wp-content folder requires special handling (plugins and themes)

you must copy over the contents of these folders not the entire folder
(copying enitre folder overwrite all ur customizations and added content)

    Upgrade:
    http://www.yourcompany.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Do not delete
    wp-config.php file
wp-content folder (if custim plugins and themes)
    wp-images (folder)
    wp-include/languages/ folder
and .htaccess file located in root directory

    Delete:
    wp- (read me, wp.php, xmlrpc.php
    license.txt
    wp-admin (folder)
    wp-includes
    wp-content/cache

Hope it will be help. Reputation will be appreciated

Just be sure of one thing though... when upgrading automatically, first empty your cache folder and make a back up of wp-content, otherwise it might get messed up.
