SEO stands for search engine optimization, it’s the process of optimizing your site so that the search engine ranks it higher within the organic search results.

Here’s couple of questions I asked myself when I was starting out:

    Q. How do you get your page Indexed in Google without paying a ton to some phony?

    A. All you need to do is have 5 to 10 initial back links linking to your site. A method which I use is, answer a few questions on Yahoo answers related to your niche and your site should get indexed that same day.

    Q. How do you get your site at the top of the search engines?

    A. This is where SEO comes into play, you need to adhere to both on-page and off-page factors to get your site at the top.

    Q. What are on-page factors?

    A. On-page factors are what you can change on the actual page such as:
    • Title tags
    • Meta description tags
    • Keyword density
    • Names of images
    • Name of directories

    Q. What are off-page factors?

    A. Off-page factors are things you can do outside of website to make your site more popular such as:
    • Write articles
    • Submit your site to directories
    • Build a ton of back links [btw which is very important in SEO]
    • Submit videos to video engines such as Youtube
    • Etc

In part two I will go over the on page factors in step-by-step detail

    Thanks

    Billy

I think you need to re-evaluate some of these answers of yours....

To get indexed faster your better off using digg or mixx since you can associate the proper anchor text, hell even use digitalpoint forums; they all work faster than Yahoo! Answers if you ask me... plus your not spamming Yahoo! Answers since the section where you enter your URL is your "source" not your advertising block. "Hence why they started using nofollow months back"

Keyword Density is really useless when it comes to optimizing web pages, the content should be written properly and structured with heading tags (forgot to mention that all together). You can review what Dr. E Garica proved with keyword density at: http://www.e-marketing-news.co.uk/Mar05/garcia.html As for images it's the filename and the alt attritbute and surronding text near that image.

Submitting videos to YouTube does not build backlinks, placing a YouTube video on your site will but it' still a nofollow backlink with little value. Plus, web directories are probably the lowest quality backlinks you can get. Write quality unique content and you'll naturally build backlinks.

The negative rep was for trying to inject a backlink into your content when it's already in your signature... tisk tisk.

Yahoo answers are nofollow links. They do not contribute in back links. They just help with traffic.

We don't really care if there are nofollow or dofollow, or even about getting traffic from them. All i intend to use these links for are getting the site indexed thats it period.

Thanks for your input though ;)

Nofollow just prevents passing of Pagerank, it can still pass on keyword value in the anchor text. I've tested this many times with nofollow blog comments and achieved a web page's #1 ranking from them alone; yes on-page factors did come into play but only got it too page #4 with "zero" internal links.

Firstly I wasnt talking about spamming yahoo answers but writing good qaulity answers which help other people within your niche.

Secondly using social bookmarking sites is a great way of getting your site indexed there is always more than one todo things, i was just sharing my ideas.

Again a link is a link, i find that the more links you have the better, it goes without saying that the higher pr the link is , the more value the link will have.

Anyway thanks for your input mate ;)

Links should be based on quality not quantity.... 10 PR5 relevant links would be better than 500 PR0 non-relevant links anyday. ;)

I think too much emphasis goes into whether a link is follow or no follow, I think if you get good quality backlinks relative to your site this will help you gain traffic in the long run.
