Except purchasing an Adwords ad doesn't change the position of your site in the SERPs, so Google isn't going to care. They are trying to discount sites that are gaming the rankings.

Well, I think anyone reporting the links is just a panty waste. Sounds like a tool for the whining babies that are jealous of their competitors hard and diligent work. Makes anyone on these boards realize they need to remove their sig files since this place exposes us to each other.

This what they are "trying" to do, but they are also penalizing sites who are just trying to make a buck, and can care less about PR.

i really dont think so google should go in this kind of business.. i know there r lots of shops for paid links n all, but after all world is all about business.. people see opportunity n make money. whats the harm. you dont have to go and find ways to crush business instead help them change to something better!!

Actually it does change the position of your serps. Pay them and you have instant first page rankings. It's the fact that webmasters would like to make some money selling links too and that cuts into googles profits, so they can do it you can't because it's their monopoly.

I'm buying links for my mask site and ranking great. People will always sell links and people will always buy links as long as links are a major factor in determining ranks. I don't think their algo can detect this, it would take someone in Google to manually penalize me and with millions of sites out there it would be years and years before they catch me.

It doesn't matter...I NEVER advertised selling PR on my site. PR was never mentioned, only traffic, and I still got penalized. You havr to add nofollow tags to the links so Google knows you are not passing PR. It's the only way.

And as far as my reporting Google to Google for paid links, it has been 4 days and no response. I wasn't actually expecting one, but I thought I might get slapped again out of spite...but nothing so far.

It's kinda harsh to report on a paid link. I mean do we not buy bill board space on the side of the road? or advertise in the paper? what is the real deal? we can buy paid links with Google!!?!! Adwords???
    OMG...

Are you sure that buying Adwords ads changes your rankings in the SERPS? Sure your ad will appear in the "sponsored links" at the top or side of the page, but those are clearly set apart from the actual search results (you can argue that not everyone realizes this, but they are indeed separate). Also, if there is any competition in your niche, there is no guarantee your Adwords ad will show up every time someone searches on your keywords. An actual first page ranking in the search results is more valuable because it will be there every time someone does that search.
