    Hi Everyone,

    I require a homepage and content page design for a client, hence running this contest.

    Prize: $200 via paypal

    Contest will run for around 5 -7 days, at which point 3 designs will be shortlisted for final revisions and then a winner selected.

    Brief

    This website is for a new product aimed at theme parks, amusement arcades, conferences and events.

    Although the product is very technical the main audience for the site will be resellers and dealers and therefore needs to be easy to navigate and not too over the top whilst still getting across the message that this is a new technology.

    Specific Requirements

    Content Page:

    Header
    Should contain the logo.

    Space for Telephone Number.

    Top level navigation with the following links: Home, Products, Case Studies, Media, News, About, Contact Us.

    Body

    Area for main content, with a section at the end to display thumbnails and captions to related media.

    Secondary Navigation

    Secondary navigation area to link to other pages within a section.

    Common Sidebar/Area

    Needs a space to display the latest two news items with title, date, link and a snippet. Also needs to display the latest two media items, with thumbnails and links.

    Footer

    Standard footer stuff and space for breadcrumb navigation.

    Homepage

    Header, Footer, and Common Sidebar/Area the same as content page.

    Body

    Area to highlight a product, with image, text and link to another page.

    Area to highlight the latest case study with image, text and link to another page.

    Lots of people have asked for examples for the layout.

    I've very quickly created some layout examples, they are not in proportion and should be used as a guideline rather than a definitive layout. I'm happy for other layouts to be created providing they contain all the required elements.

    Homepage and Content pages are pretty similar.

    @XXXplatinium: I like the idea of this and where its going, there is too much white though and I think the colours are a bit too bright.

    @Dan9872: Great work, certainly heading the right direction. The New Product/Case Study bit should be replaced with the latest news/media. Possibly something to make it stand out from the crowd a bit more; not sure what I appear to have zero creativity today, maybe some extra graphics/logos.

    Great entries so far, more entries/concepts welcome.

    More Feedback:

    @LVfreelancer: Not keen on the grass. I think the green is too dark, could you try it lighter / more similar to the example site. I do like the layout and idea though.

    @Matt B: Like this design a lot, latest media bit would contain 3 small thumbnails, with associated title. Some icons for the latest news items would be good.

    @Dan9872: Like the changes. I feel something needs doing to the related media section, possibly its own header graphic or something similar.

    There is no requirement for designs to be submitted via PM but everyone seems to have done so.

    Perhaps you'd like to enter the contest and post in the thread to encourage others :)
