Why have my Adsense earnings suddenly dropped?

    Hi guys,

Since starting a blog with Adsense ads in April, my earnings have steadily increased. Last month I was earning an average of around $5 a day and at the start of September it was over $10.

Over the past few days, however, the number of clicks have dropped dramatically - despite the number of impressions being higher than ever.

    Sept. 5 - Page impressions 1871, clicks 76 ($13.48)
    Sept. 7 - page imressions 2592, clicks 32 ($5.80)

What is the reason for this, does anybody know?

I haven't changed my ad layout much at all and some 80% of my visitors are new each day, so I doubt it is blindness to them.

    Any ideas?

    My blog is at www.balanceboardblog.com

Hi pipes. Thanks for replying. :)

Not many are repeat visitors, nope. As I mentioned in my original post, usually over 80% daily are first-time visitors.

Typically, over half (55%) of my traffic comes from Google (organic), 10% are direct hits, and the rest are via links from other websites.

The same ads do repeat over a lot, but they match the keywords of the site.

    Any ideas? :s

I've noticed a significant drop in traffic and earnings ever since the last adsense maintenance. I'm wondering if they changed the algorithm and if I got smart priced? I can't explain why this is happening to me?

    Have you changed any keywords?

Maybe a high paying per click page has suffered, whilst a poorer one has risen for impressions that doesn't pay so well?

They go up and down like the waves on the sea. When it is up, we are happy and when it is down, we cry. That this the life of AdSense worshippers. :)
