Please refer to my earlier posts. I'm not talking about removing my own url. I'm talking about another person's url containing damaging information (about my website) no longer relevant because it was done by the previous owner. I had written to him but he had not responded. The only thing I could do is to publish a webpage to explain the position that I'm not responsible for scamming conducted by the previous owner. Taking legal action is costly.

Can anybody comment about this. Thanks.

Google will not remove someone else's page. In my view, the best bet is the following: use htaccess or script whereby if you get a refer from this site, it sends vistior to inter-statial page explaining your side of the story. Not all visitors should need to know the story, but people speficially those from that refer. Hope this helps.

Actually, that doesn't really work like it should. I have listed a couple of URLs and they are still reported as 404 :S

I have a question regarding this topic too. I once made a site and used a free subdomain. Then I decided to use my own domain name and paid to make a site. Now I have access to my newer site, but not my older site. I can't figure out how to stop my old site from showing in the search engines. Will this count as duplicate content and hurt my newer site?

You should use robots.txt file to deny access to that URL and it should be out of the index with in a week or so...

Add a noindex meta tag to the page and submit it for removal through webmasters tool...

Adding it to robots.txt is not a good practice as you don't want to keep adding individual urls like this to your robots.txt. Adding a noindex meta tag is better.

To add a noindex meta tag, you could use platinum seo plugin if you are on wordpress...
