In the fist place i'm a person who loves the freedom but i'm also a small webmaster right now.

I open this thread because i heard and probably i'm facing with Adblock or similar software made to block our ads.

What i don't understand ... how can someone call the use of Adblock as your right to choose between something and ...another thing, your freedom. No, there is no right to choose here if you want to see or not see the ads, you have only the right to ignore them because the website you visit is not your propriety, Your only option as visitor is to take it as it is or go elsewhere or maybe build your own "virgin" website with no ads and stay alone to watch it.

The internet as the TV or the radio stations are built on advertising, the entire democracy and the capitalist society, when you watch the TV you don't have the right to choose if you want advertising or not, the same should be over the internet. The internet is built on advertising, it's growing and his evolution is in direct corelation with the money we spend or make here, if the internet users don't want advertising they don't respect the internet.

This is why i call Adblock or any other similar scripts or software an abuse against the publishers community and we should rise against this abuse.

I don't ask people to click my ads if they don't want, i ask to respect my work, our work.

I choose if i place the ads on my website not you the user, this should be the rule. I'm not forcing someone to buy products or click them how i said but we can't put down all banners or advertising from the city ...because the buyers don't want to see them, is our duty to present, show our products, ads and the buyers only to choose if will ignore them or not.

    That's my personal opinion.

Consider that a person has the right to block specific content in HIS browser. By extension, if you wanted the person to download a virus, would he not have the right to have a virus scanner block it out?

Which was which :) Seriously, though, a virus would be considered damaging, the ads may be considered distasteful or unwelcomed, but where does one draw the line? Adblock is one thing, why don't people get up in arms about the ability to disable javascript in the browser? That takes care of ads quite nicely, too.

To put it another way...when the commercials come on between segments of your favorite program, there are no wrist or leg-restraints that snap into place to keep you in your chair. If you're like me you do something else during the commercials, or you fast forward through them (let us rise up against DVRs :) ). The advertisers are getting screwed. And, just like the Do Not Call list, the people using Ad Block likely aren't going to be the ones clicking anyway.

Adpubster is 100% right - if someone is going thru the trouble of installing and using Adblock or any other adblocker, they would not be clicking any of your ads anyway, so the point is moot ..
