My new site went live in June. I focused on linkbuilding, articles and directory submissions. The first PR update brought a PR2 some PR-predicting tools suggest a PR3 for the next update. Now what do you think? Is PR2 a good start? What would the best steps for a PR3 and 4? Social bookmarking? Will increasing domain age help? Even more links and articles? What I understand is that its getting harder and harder to climb the next PR step.
PR 2 on first update is an OK start. but i would suggest you to focus on increasing SERP ranking which wil bring you traffic rather than focusing on PR
I don't think you need to worry so much on what would be the next PR, up to the extent of using a prediction tool. Just keep on working on what you are doing at the moment and finally when the time has come, you will eventually see the results yourself. And yeah, climbing each rank gets harder exponentially.
PageRank really goes by the quality of your backlinks - for instance a PR4 backlink from a site closely related to yours will bring you up to a PR2 or PR3 in a short amount of time - the same PR4 link on a totally unrelated site will not increase your PR that much. PageRank is a bunch of crap anyway - it has no direct correlation with rankings at all. You will constantly see PR2 sites outranking PR4 and PR5 sites. It's all about relevance and it will only get harder.
PR 2 is low but we should try more. PR 4 or 5 must. try soon get good result next updation. Article submission is good idea.
PR no doubt is some thing that one should look at but more importantly the amount of traffic is also crucial.
well the best advice I can give is that you continue working on your site, even if in the next update you don't get a good PR result. Be active promoting it, exchanging links, making good content so people link it. good luck!
Currently I am working so much on that site that I had to use a predicting tool to get a feeling if it is worth it. Well if I will be getting a PR3 with the next update I wouldnt complain. However a PR4 would be really nice. In any case you are right, if you cant make traffic from your PR its not worth it. So I am delighted to see more and more traffic coming from google for certain keywords. I already made it to 2nd page no1 for some related keywords and I certainly wont let the ranking slip from my focus.
PR2 is a good start, but I would not worry so much about PR. I've seen many times high-PR sites loosing in SERPS to low-PR sites. Ranking is what really matters.
You also want to make sure that your backlinks contain the keywords that you are trying to optimize for. I was able to get first page rankings for some of my keywords relatively quickly.
I think PR is not very important issue now. But if you visit the buy and sell category forum, you will find its importance in selling or buying. The more important thing is good ranking and high traffic. Congrates, you website got PR 2.
Keep working on your site. PR 2 on first update is an OK start. More work.. higher the PR Good Luck...er working
PR2 is a good start ... but i have to agree you don't need to push for a high PR rank more than good ranking and high traffic.
PR 2 is a good starting PR! Add up some other methods like Press Release (It add up also links and some traffics); Squidoo lenses creation (try also hubpages, even its a no-follow); Blogging is also a good source of quality backlinks. Blog commenting and forum posting will do, too.
PR2 is a pretty good start if you ask me! Most of my new sites jump between PR2 and PR3. I've had a few PR4's and PR5's popup though .
Hi, If you want to enhance your PR then it will take time. Start doing off page optimization. If you want to know more , read blog by matt cutt or googlegenie blog.
