Here is a simple question. Does creating anchor link to another website benefit your site as well for the same keyword put in the anchor keyword or not?

For example, suppose I create following anchor link:
    Download Google Chrome

Now after it gets listed in the search engines, will DP get any benefit for the keyword "Download Google Chrome" or Google Chrome download page will get all.
    Please post your views

I will rather not link to my direct/indirect competitors with my main keywords.
Link to authority sites in your niche but with slightly different anchor text.
This way Google will understand which niche your site belongs to.

From this example, Google will benefit, as it's got promoted. :)

yes Google will profit to this link. But you can't use here. DP will suspended account. DP will think that you are promoting your self.

Anchor Text gives benefit to site, which it is linking to but not where it is present.

That's ok but avoid overuse of anchor text and passing link juice to other site.

It's an interesting question to ask concerning how do links on your site to other sites actually help your site. For one thing you are adding more text to your site, but you are potentially diluting your PR, by creating an external link off your page. As long as you don't overdo it, adding links to your own site that are topical, probably can't hurt that much, but this is a great experiment to try out.
