I've never used .info domains before.
I don't think that .info domains are good for branding...
Besides, i don't remember a web site that ends with .info. I doN't follow any site with this extention.

 

Never use .info - google marks as spam because they are very cheap and people use them for... bad reasons.

 

On what level does that make sense? Why would Google mark a whole TLD as being spam?

Google is more than capable of identifying spam sites though on-page techniques and link profiles

 

Where did you get this blanket statement information from? I have a bunch of .info domains with good unique content and they are well indexed by google and yahoo and bring in a lot of SE traffic and clicks. I think in these days when people are branching out to more and more TLDs it really doesn't matter what your site extension is, what matters is what you put on it and how good the quality of the site is.

 

in my oppinion, since godaddy and other tld provider make the .info price USD0.99, the reputation for .info is gettig low. What do you think ?

 

.com is an ordinary brain memorized, while Ses don't care what extentions are, I still use any extension that would be available to suit my keyword resurlt

 

I think its a given that .com is preferrable. Think about this though. You have a good idea and of course the .com is not available. On Go Daddy, if you can get the .info for a buck, give it a try and see if your idea had some merit. Not much to lose and you can sort out the winners real easily.

If you are looking to build a brand, obviously .com is more preferable. But I've seen many .info sites ranking way ahead of .coms in the SERPs. So IMHO tld shouldn't matter for SEO

 

I have seen .info ranked highly on google. But a .info site may not be as catchy as a .com.

I always use .coms personally as I think they are more professional and more likely to be remembered.

That's it. This thread is full of these unproven comments out of the blue!!! Msplinter, give me a official copy of the correspondence from Google, Yahoo and MSN that explicitly states that they give a s**t to TLD's other than .com.

And if you cannot produce that evidence, explain in detail with proofs that TLD's other than .com's are no good. Give it right now!!! I have had enough of these absurd claims without any proofs.
