It is one of the easiest one considering other payment gateways..
    But do compare their commissions..

Paypal eats upto 3.4% of my income.. :(

But be prepared for chargebacks :) As there are hundreds of Script Kiddies with hacked accounts !!!
If you are selling a good or service in which you know the buyers its ok !!
    Otherwise ....grrr. ... rippers!

I used to sell Internet services via Paypal and never had a problem with chargebacks, always found it to be quite painless and without issues. Of course I may have just got lucky but after 100s of transactions, I'm not so sure.

3.4% isn't much and if you're selling regularly (i.e. not on ebay), just add it on at the end as a processing fee, there's no need to take a hit in profits for it. Just accept other methods like cheque or whatever and then the user can choose whether to pay the fee or not.

    Sure,
Well PayPal is with over a million active users, it has a well defined API called PayPal IPN.
There are two basic methods of integrating your e-commerce solution with the Paypal gateway:
    • Generating the payment button and using it as part of your checkout process. This is a quick solution that can be delivered in one business day
    • Processing via PayPal IPN (the callback mechanism that transmits payment details to you). This is used by high volume online retailers who want to store customer details on their own website rather than at PayPal.

These can be done quickly and efficiently by experienced programmer, and the charges are fluctuating too, I normally charge depending on the number of products online ...

Create an account with paypal, Click the activate link in the email they will send you, Login in to your account, click merchant tools in top menu, Select the best payment method for your requirement (shopping cart, buttons, email payments) , then enter your details and paypal will give you either a html code or something similar to paste on website.

    regards

So the first solution confirms the payment then sends the user back to my site on a page I specify? Like an "account successfully created" page?
This solution will be for a services site-- http://www.webmasterlabor.com

    Hi,
I had a look at your website. I think the best option for you would be to create an order form on your website. When someone wants to buy "one or more" of your services, they will fill in this form. Take their email ID in this order form.

Then go to paypal and send an "invoice" of the amount you charge for those services. Click "create an invoice" in paypal to create an invoice and send to your buyer.
The buyer will then pay the amount and you will recieve a notification email from paypal.

I suggest this because you have multiple services, each of different costs.
You can also use paypal shopping cart but that will need maintainance whenever you decide to change the cost or offer discounts etc. ( That might get troublesome for you.)
Creating an invoice is like filling a form on a website. Very simple.

First create a paypal account and then explore the features. There are so many for different needs. Add a credit card at a later time when you have found a suitable solution for your needs.

Hope that will get you started with your online venture. :)
    Best wishes
