Good content and clear navigation will improve the bounce rate. It is not possible for us to forcely stay the visitors on the worse content page or page with no content. So quality is must for this.

Improve the internal link structure of your site and also focus on creating better site navigation. In other words, for every content that you have, try to place as many links as possible for every keywords to other page on your site.

Always dont post here and there in the category that is not applicable for you..

Post in the sites where you can find targeted visitors so that you can find conversions

On a side question what is a good bounce rate? I know you could say 0% but what is a realistic bounce rate that an ecommerce site can expect?

When I started reading the thread I though 50% was a decent rate?

    Thanks,
    Mike

My friend, the first thing you have to do to improve your bounce rate is this:

Get unique and good titles for every one of the 184 pages you got.

This "REO Property – REO Properties Listing – Bank REO Homes – REO ..." does not give the user exact information about what is on your page. Even if they have a 10% percent of interest when seeing this title, probably won't stay to click for more because you are not on their "frequency"

The second is the meta description. Tell them exactly what you got. You have the same meta description for all your indexed pages: "Get REO Property is a powerful real estate search engine that locates reo property throughout the country. Almost Every REO property is listed here in one". This is so general that I want to bypass it and look for a site with more specific information.

Great info Silveraden, thanks for that article. If you're having trouble with bounce rate, Silver offers some of the best insight and analysis I've seen in the subject and he boils it down into a relatively short article.

My two cents is that "content is king", high quality material trumps all. Also, make sure that the target the engines are sending makes sense for your page. If you have a high quality page (subjective of course) that is getting picked up by weird search results, check your title, description, header and density. You may be optimized for a word that has nothing to do with your subject. It doesn't happen often, but it certainly can. The problem is self-correcting, eventually the engines will drop this page from their results if the bounce rate stays too high but that's a pretty poor solution from the webmaster's perspective, it means you got banished to Google's alternative (invisible) directory.

Good luck and thanks again Silveraden for the great info!
