Hi guys I have a little question. A company approached me (a bit fishy, linkstar.co.uk) with an offer to pay for a text link on my site which gets about 1000 uniques daily and ca. 2000 on a busy day or more, so let's say 1500 uniques in average daily.

How much would you charge per month for a text link?

Personally speaking, I wouldn't do business with LinkStar. DYOR and draw your own conclusions, however.

Agreed. They seem like scammers, although those that got 'scammed' only didn't get paid for the links tehy put up for 2 or 3 days. So I'm willing to check it out, We'll see.

link sales are valued partly from PR and how many indexed pages you have

PR means diddley-squat these days. IMO, what matters is traffic, relevance and position/integration of the ad.

What I'm afraid is that they may disappear in 6 months and your PayPal will be full of charge-backs and they will receive 6 months of free advertising. Is it possible scenario? What is the maximum time I can wait for PayPal charge-backs from them? 2 months or 6 months?

Open source is free of charge. GNU/Linux users don't like to pay for anything especially for the software. So... $5/month!

Without researching the company you speak of, they may be interested in the Page Rank (PR) backlink for their clients.
I get all kinds asking if they can purchase links on various sites of mine, but as some have stated here- seller beware.
It helps to have a legal team to go back and sue for the chargeback amounts (and much more), but the average webmaster does not.
