Article submission and content page

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by arvinrams, Sep 2, 2008.

If we submit an article in the article directories with a link back to our website, with the same content as in one of the pages in our website, will Google spiders consider it as duplicate content and penalise us? In normal curcumstances, spiders consider it as duplicate content, but as we are having a link back to our website, will Google consider it as a legitimate practice? Thanks in advance.

Better have a different version of your article for submissions. An ever better idea is a continued article on your website. People will be directed form article directory to read more on your blog or website.. It'll make them keep coming too..

Google always looking for the fresh contain. If you use duplicate content google will not give the importance and your effort become useless. So try to create new content always. You can also modify that article and submit as a new.

Both atricle directory and website are different. google looks as two way. Website content must be unique. If you are submitting article on your site that you want to use other articles directory than first you must add on your site and index before publish your article in article ditectories.

Otherwise content will count poor bocz crawl will count your site article on hundreds articles directories.

Articles can use on our site that is no problem. It will help direct traffics. if you want another mater than clear more.

The OP said the think perfectly. Rest replies are wrong. I am into business of Article writing and Article Submissions. Plus I have an Article Directory. So, duplicate content is what I play with which everyday.

I wrote a post on my blog about this. Read it by paying attention. My post reads -- "Duplicate Content, Article Directories, Article Marketing and Google"

I wrote this post after a research of more than one week time. Know the fact.

This is simply a myth. Google is not able to declare that your site have original content even when it was indexed very first. I don't have proof of it, but I have read it on some Google authority site.

Also, the trick you said does not looks like natural behavior, and google know it.

Yes. It will be considered duplicate. So I reccommend you to create two different articles.

Same content on two different sites (article directory or not) is considered duplicate content. May pass Google for a time then it will sacrifice your ranking later. So don't risk it.

If this is the case then article directories like Goarticle, ezinearticle etc should have gone in drain by this time. Why they are working great when they have tons of duplicate content??

That's because ezine articles and Goarticles have lots of content that are not duplicate content. Remember, indexing is not focused on the home page alone, it is also in the inner pages.

Here is a read to clear things up.

I read all that thing pretty well, that is why I am saying so. If you say Big Article Directory don't have duplicate content then you have never looked into article directories. Search in google for titles of 20 random articles from big article directories using quotes. You yourself will come to know the answer.

    ---------

Edit: I am not in favor of using duplicate content, but just saying Google don't penalized for it if used in right way i.e legitimate way. I am strong lover of unique content.

I'm not saying they don't. I said they have "lots" of unique content but not "all". But since they have a huge database of articles, their reputation is high. And if you read the measures Google is taking when faced with duplicate content, you'll see that they choose a page to index. So with a choice of indexing your webpage between the ezine article page with the same content, the smart search engine will practically go with the indexing the one on the article directory.

Well doesn't matter really. It links back to your site anyways on the signature box. It does not matter so long as Google does not penalized the rankings which I highlighted on the previous paragraph as well. You may be right that they don't penalize as of this time. They did indicate that they only do it on drastic circumstances. I just want the folks to be careful. After all, Google is evolving and the last thing any webmaster want to happen is to find their site in the Google sandbox. My take on this is just to be careful. :)

Here you said things right. you was not so clear in your previous posts.

BTW... if any site have 100% duplicate content and giving link to source of content will not get penalized. But there is not use of doing so. :)

I see. Nice information tidbit. I think that is okay since that's what sites like Wikipedia is doing, duplicating and indicating source. So I guess that's fine.

Sorry. I just realized it was a bit confusing. :p

What about putting many articles on the same page?
I think google will not see it as duplicate content even if each article is a copy, but the page is new one, different.
