Hi, I would like to seek help from experts of WordPress for a different sidebar for different category plugin. I can't seem to find the right one. I want to build a real-estate directory so I want to place different advertisement at different category in my sidebar. Thanks in advance for your help.
For that, you'll need a customized plugin. or, you can use several text widgets manually and use the 'show if' function on each of them. This might be a tedious job if you have a lot of categories. This also might significantly slow down your blog's (oddly I think I should use the term directory here lol) loading for the visitor because all the functions will be called from mysql even though they will not be executed.. Moreover, if your directory, which should actually be a blog, picks up a bit of traffic then your host my go crazy because of too much wp mysql connections. I'm pretty much a 'wp seo fiend' and I can tell you that Wordpress is a blogging platform and using it as a directory is not worth the effort. ( please don't take anything I said as an offense, just wanted to give you my honest opinion that's all bud.). Godspeed!
Hi, Thanks for your reply. Actually I want to design a real-estate portal with WordPress, which is bdpropertyinfo.com. To maximize the advertisement revenue I wanted to have ads appear for my each category as different then others or if possible there should be different ads in sidebar for in every page visitor's visit. . I found some advertisement plugin at sidebar which I yet to implement successfully in my site. I'm expecting the sidebar with full advertisement...probably 20~50 ads per category may of 125x 60 each is three column sidebar. I'm still in experimentation stage. I'm more or less familiar with wordpress that's why I wanted to go for a wordpress real-estate portal. I don't know if there is any better real-estate portal that I can work on. So I have to stick with wordpress at this moment. I don't if I can make any success out of this. But why not give it a try. I'm using wp-sticky to get all the front page posts/ categories there. Also the featured property and videos are ok for me now. And finally sorry for the poor quality logo and site layout, I'm still in experimentation stage. Any idea how I can do better and help needed to solve the sidebar adverisement widget problem. Thanks for the reply.
Firstly Salamulaikum and Roza Chilen toh? lol Yupp amio Bangali from Dhaka and its nice to meet ya dosto/bhaijan/etc etc. Now back to where we were, I see... well you need a seriously big sized plugin then which you gotta pay for brother, otherwise you will have to enable the following codes: <?php if(is_home() && $post==$posts[0] && !is_paged()) { ?> Advertisement code goes here and is displayed on the homepage only <?php } ?> Code (markup): for each page and categories specifically. For categories just replace the is_home parameter to is_yourcategory parameter and it should work. This you have to do for each category manually, hence I said thats a lot of work and it is not worth the effort because you can always put rotating ads in the sidebar, specially since you are using Adii's theme or WooThemes.. I've found too many real-estate script, but don't like the complexity in those scripts. But still looking for a better one. I would have to take suggestions from you. You are also using ADII theme.....in you Nokia themes site. cool.
