Hello guys! Yesterday I was testing Marblehost.com and found out they they offered more than only free domain name registration. You may get absolutely free domain for life. A free domain name for life is offered for all their clients which purchase any web hosting plan.
    Share your opinions please.

sounds kinda fishy and too good to be true to me

what will happen if like some time down the road you decide to host with another company? Would you still get to own this free domain?

I'm new around here but I'd never register a domain with the hosting company. If the hosting company is offering a free domain I'd take them up on the offer but I'd only be using that domain for administration purposes of the account.

This is likely. Definitely read the TOS carefully.

If you can never transfer the domain and you are not ready to get hitched
to your web-host, then as superjacent said, the domain would perhaps be most
    useful for administration purposes.

Personally, I would not even bother with a domain that is non-transferable.

I would not recommend registering the name with a hosting company. If you can afford the hosting plan you can the domain fees as well. Register your name with Godaddy, name or namecheap.com

    Yes,
Most of web hosting doing this I think,. And it's make any sense, they want profit right? that's why they are willing to pay your domains.
Usually this comes with some requirement, for example you have to be hosted for 3 months before you can transfer the domain into another.

If web hosting company register domain name for you not for themselves I suppose you have nothing to be affraid of. But id that is the trick to tie you upon with them you need to think twice.

And you'll have a chance to lose it if you don't renew your hosting plan. Kinda sucks for me.

If we will follow common sense, this so-called "domain for life" means it is free for as long as you are a customer of the host company.

There is now way for them to provide a free domain for anybody who is already an ex-customer.
