Actually comparatively speaking the murder rates in Milwaukee were about 5 per 100,000 people in the 90's. Today, that number is well below 2-3 per 100,000.
That's where I got my information ;) In reality murder rates have been going down for some time now, year after year. They can always be better, but per capita, they are much lower than where I grew up in St. Louis.

Again, about the only thing that is not declining is burglary. Murder is most certainly down.

Actually, overall, federally across the US murder rates are way down, and have been on a downward trend for about 30 years.

Homicides. What other kind is there? It's not a "spike"... Its a consistent downward trend. The data is freely available on the internet. Just look at the 90's and compare it to the last 8 years. It's been on the decline.

That looks awesome. I just cannot seem to convince my wife to go there. My college roommate and his wife vacationed there by way of a cruise. The pictures they took are simply breathtaking. Especially of the glaciers. Looks like you had a great time!

We rented a car and drove all over the place (1,300 miles). That in itself was beautiful enough! I think seeing the state by train would be awesome too.

And yeah, it was a great trip. Unfortunately, I tore a ligament in my knee just before we left and I didn't get to go on the 2-day ice climbing/camping trip we had planned. :(

Notice I said 'parts' of Milwaukee. You are trying to nitpick of just Milwaukee city itself, there is far more to 'Milwaukee' than the city, of which your numbers appear to come from. Many of the municipalities surrounding Milwaukee, being called by most apart of Milwaukee are not considered into that mix.

Many PARTS of Milwaukee are in fact much less safe than they were years ago. I have been living in and around Milwaukee my entire life, but I guess someone can take random data for just the city of Milwaukee to try to disprove that CERTAIN PARTS of the Milwaukee area are safer than they previously were

Your 2-3 per 100,000, how do you figure? A city of just over 600,000 would equate to only 18 murders a year at tops with those numbers. Something tells me you're more than a bit off. ;)

In 05 by August the murder rate bypassed the previous years total.........

    2005 586,500 121 158 2,937 2,811 6,027

Population has also gone down ;)

There are more than 'homicide' there is also man slaughter and other charges that may not be in those numbers.

GRIM, its pointless arguing with you when you constantly resort to forming your own reality for whatever reason. When I said Milwaukee, I mean Milwaukee County. The date is freely available on either a city, county or statewide level through the state itself. Everything I have read points at lower crime, murder, rape and higher burglary for whatever reason.

Either way, its a hell of a lot safer than it was in St. Louis by comparison.

Time for me to get my HD downtown!!! Hopefully I do not get shot at

I am not 'forming my own reality' far from it. So now it's the 'county' yet you stated stats for the city. Interesting...

You must obviously not watch the Milwaukee area news that much in all honesty. Lots of articles shows increases in murder rates, especially depending on what part of Milwaukee you are talking about.

Again I actually have lived in this area my entire life, you have never lived even close to Milwaukee I believe. I guess I would not know nothing from first hand seeing once safe shopping areas shut down due to 'crime' yep, sure I wouldn't.

"Milwaukee county" - ha ha ha ha ha ha! Oh man, that is some seriously funny schitt!

Thanks, I have 600 more pics if you'd like to see them.

And actually it was pretty warm up there. I wore shorts most of the trip. It was cold on the water and near some of the glaciers. But in Anchorage it was actually just five degrees cooler than Chicago. And it was light 22 hours a day!!!
