How many posts before I launch a blog?

Hi. I am currently planning to make a blog. However, as hard as it is to create a topic for my blog, I have also found it very hard to think how many posts should I crate before I launch it. Can someone share their experience on starting blogs? How many posts did you make before launching your blog?

Blogs need to be updated regularly. If you are finding it hard to create a topic, then I'm guessing you are going to find it hard to write posts daily or at most weekly. So you might want, in general, to rethink even starting one. Those of us who blog regularly have topics we have a passion about (like my travel site). Sometimes I get writers block and it is hard to write about something I love. I can't imagine trying to write about a topic I had a hard time figuring out.

That said, you can launch it any time you want. Just regularly keep adding posts so your new subscribers see that new information is constantly being added.

You need to target a niche. Preferably something that you have an interest, experience, or passion for, and it won't be so hard to come up with topics.
If you start a blog about a subject that you know nothing about, or don't have an interest in, you will probably give up after about 2 months when you don't see any results.

Instead of worrying about launching, worry about why you want a blog in the first place.

Ideally you should have about 10 posts before you begin to launch your blog

As others have mentioned, the key is not so much how many posts before you launch it but, whether you'll be able to maintain a regimen of frequent updates. Really, you only need a handful of posts to get started, if that - there is no magic formula there. However, if you are serious about competing then you'll need to update with good content at least 2-3 times per week.

Im not sure what you mean by launching the blog, maybe your referring to promoting it, i wouldn't set a certain amount, post and promote at the same time.

Start with one and then write your next one. If you keep that up it will pretty much take care of itself.

I would say, the more posts you do, the better.

More posts means good traffic, reputations and SEO from search engines.

There is no any fixed criteria for that. One can launch a blog even if it has 2-3 posts or 10-12 posts. Important thing is you need to update it time to time with unique information alongwith promotion. More unique and useful content means more traffic.

Thanks for the insightful advices guys! I have already chosen my niche topic and have started. Have already created 10 articles. But I'm not rushing. I'll proceed to blog design. Couldn't really get Wordpress.

u can start with 1-2 posts but don't post adsense ads less then 10 pages and if u want to promote ur site too then atleast have 20-15 posts and gradually increase posts.

and keep in mind quality is everything not quantity

Target a minimum of 10 posts and then publish them. Make sure they are original , lengthy, informative and professional. Pillar Articles should be the main target when starting a new blog because they can help you in gaining visitors quickly.

Well, my personal experiences tell me that there isn't much of a difference. I've tried both methods and to be honest, while the blog that started with 10 posts was easier to advertise with (note, only at the beginning), in the end, there was hardly a difference between the two, which made me feel that the initial 10 posts I wrote went wasted. I actually wrote about this topic once on my blog, which is one of the more popular posts.

To make things short, I'd say a blog with 1-2 posts at the launch is just as good as one with 10+ posts as long as you can sustain its development.

I think it's better to launch the blog when you'll get some posts for every categories you have created.

Just write a post and launch, it's not like anyone will read it anyway. By the time you have decent traffic, you'll probably have written twenty posts
