Checking my category often (weekly) I see no new sites being added.

There must be no editor, hence no website approvals.

I have applied to be an editor to help=denied.

    I applied agian=more waiting.

My site is relevant and content filled. Not spam.

    Frustrating. Could use advice/help.

Is there an editor listed for that category? How many sites are listed on it? It's easier if the directory has very few entries. Did you submit sites with your application to be an editor, that had unique content for that directory?

If it's been more than 14 days since you've applied to be an editor, you can check your status by posting a message to Becoming an Editor forum. Be sure to read the Forum Guidelines first!

If they denied you once, they will probably deny you again. Now that they know you are associated with a site that belongs in that category.

    Just to clarify:

We don't mind if an applicant owns a website that could be listed in the requested category.

We mind a lot if they forget to mention it :D.

What site & what category? Knowing those two things can help us help you a bit more. (dates of submission can also help editors)

As for the category not having an editor, I bet it does, at least on some level. If you are trying to get a site added closer to the bottom, then the categories higher up likely have editors. Some times they will pop into the lower categories and check out the queue or add in sites they find by other means. The category I used to edit for does not have an editor listed yet has been edited several times in the last year (one site removal, and a few sites added).

So getting listed could just be a matter of time... though, heh, a 'matter of time' can often equate to FOREVER ;)

Submit your site to other directories and promote it through other means. Waiting on DMOZ is simply not good for ones health.

Maybe 4 years ago, today you just call it Conflict of Interests and reject/remove editor. :p

Well yes, of course, and not just today. If an editor is abusing their position and not editing impartially, then they do not meet the fundamental requirements for being an editor. If they persist with such self-interest, they risk losing their account.
It's very simple, and public knowledge.
    Has been for years.
    No excuses.

You wanted to say no evidence required? :p

It is enough for one meta to make accusation, two more to back him/her up and any editor can be removed since I seriously doubt any meta will bother to question the word of another meta and check editing logs of accused editor or examine the evidence if it even exists.

Since editors have zero rights they are not allowed to explain or defended their actions or even know evidence against them especially if they've made error of not kissing butt of one of the metas who might be bothered to try to defended them.

They are simply removed without explanation and banned forever - there must be a lot of death penalty supporters amongst meta community.

    mfrasher,

Dont worry man. Im in the same boat as you. I am more than "qualified" i think, with over a decade of internet and website experince, to manager a dmoz category that has only 9 listings that i had wanted. haha... However, DMOZ wants you to have a PhD in "Link Management" and "Ancient Directory Uses" from Harvard or Princeton University in order to become a volunteer for their "Precious, Antiquated, Useless Directory"...
