Yes this is a stupid question but how does somebody make money just from a blog? I have read of people making thousands on there blogs but how do the do it?

In a nutshell, put up (quality) content then sell advertisements (Adsense, Text Link Ads, private advertisers) or promote affiliate products (Commission Junction, Clickback, private affiliates). Do a forum search because this has been discussed in numerous threads.
Join one program that pays well and then give description of it so that people understand that they can make money by joining them. Do not just put banner without description. People hate them..
Making money from blogging is not an easy task. You have to work very hard. There are several things involved like content traffic recommending products maintaining good communication with your readers Most of the bloggers will not earn a decent income for approx. 6 months. You have to continue giving quality content on a particular topic for more than six months. Then you will be able to pick up and earn more.
Post what you want to post and place google adsense... that's it... simple question needs simple answer..
As others have said.. content is king. Write something people want to read about and the money will come in later. First concentrate on having a blog with strong content then think about monetizing it. Remember good content = good traffic = money made
