No offense to any other competitor in the v7ndotcom elursrebmem SEO Contest, but I happen to be trying to throw together a final push for Digital Point's own, Alek and his v7ndotcom elursrebmem website which his donating 100% of any proceeds to University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research. Many of us are familar with Alek, his dedication to this cause, and the fun we've had helping out - it's time once again. The v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest is coming to a close, literally in its last hours. Alek's site for Celiac Research charity fund raising, is in the top 3 or better on most datacenters in Google. We all know that the power of Digital Point and its members can help him secure the #1 spot for the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest and raise some much needed funds for Celiac Disease Research. In case you missed the desperate, spam laden links above - here it is again, please visit the Celiac Research Charity site for v7ndotcom elursrebmem. Thanks!
I thought the contest had gotten over $10,000 - but over at v7ndotcom elursrebmem only $7K is accounted for. Well, either way - it will be great to see that go to charity.
Agreed, maybe 1% of dp coop weight . I'm pretty sure all of the top 3 contenders are members here at DP though. I guess thats saying something.
It is really cool to see someone that is in the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest for something other than personal gain - unless of course you consider the fact that Alek's kids have celiac disease and may benefit from future research. Alek offered a link back to anyone who linked back to him from a PR5 or higher page for the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest as well. I felt this might hurt the effort overall, and took a raincheck.
Yes, I agree NetMidWest, it's nice to see someone in the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest with such honorable and worthwhile aspirations; thanks - keep the linking, clicking and momemtum going for a few more hours folks - help the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest come to an end in a positive way.
I love America's generosity. Not from goverment but people like us on DP. If I won I'd likely do 1/2 and 1/2 because I am not that rich yet where I could afford to give all of it away but if I could I would that's if I won the contest but I did not. I'd donate out of personal pocket vs. contest winnings anyways.
Yes we are now down to the wire in the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest. There are some fine people involved.
Would it really help to put same link again and again on one thread page without any pr :? Alek is doing great job. (currently #4).
I see this got moved from the Google forum to Buy, Sell or Trade > Services. I expected to see it moved, but thought it would be in General Chat or wherever the other v7ndotcom elursrebmem threads are located...
Yeah, I too see that it's been moved. I was hoping as the contest winner is decided by Google rank and seeing that it's been a DP member show that this might survive the weekend in the Google forum where more would see it .... However, there's still a few hours left to support Alek and his quest to win the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest.
The v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest has been worldwide and not really American. Jim from Sweden has said if he won he would donate, as would I (Scotland) so the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest has been very much a positive and worldwide contest.
I just couldn't come up with anything else to work in a mention of v7ndotcom elursrebmem at the time, other than to point out the move.
Thanx for all the last minute support guys. I'll add that while I finished 4th (3rd on many other data centers, so I call it a 3.5 finish), Scott generous offer back on Jan 17th to give half to Celiac research means that when all the dust settles (and assuming all the sponsor pay up which is happening so far), close to $4,000 should go toward Celiac Disease Research. Another aspect that has always been a big reason I did this was to increase awareness, since Celiac is often mis/un-diagnosed.
You and Jim were neck and neck for 1 & 2, I thought we had a real chance of boosting your site a bit, Alek. After reading a few threads here and at v7n.com, perhaps for future contests, an average of postion on all d/c's known would be a better measure. Do you see a reason that the order of winners came down to a last minute shake-up?
Actually, it was Scott's VE.net site that battled Jim at the end ... although since I sent him two PR8's and a bundle of PR7's and PR6's in the last two weeks, that probably helped his cause. Yea, how you "score" things like this is a non-trivial problem. Only Google knows on the last minute shake up, but I gotta believe the Google Juice above probably helped.
