It matters because he is one of thousands of people that are starting their own 'seo company' and I would like an honest answer. If you are working with clients on such services there should be no harm from somebody asking these questions.

And I also outsource a huge amount of stuff here, so I could be a potential client down the road.

 

Don't discourage guys, in any business there is going to be competition and I'm sure they realize that. I don't have any ideas but just want to point out that the name is very important so think many times before choosing the right one.

Stick to something unique, no need for keeping seo in company name imo. This will help in diversyfying later (which I know you have to considering the way SEO field is going on)

I am working currently for a web company that offers opimization. I am a programmer here, so I do not take part in the optimization, but am just listening in on what they offer there clients, and its pretty bad. I see our company just offering about 5-20 keywords that they pic, for local businesses , so like "city title", and put it in the H1's, titles, and description, and thats about it. They hand them a report on these KW's, on the position , from web postion (that no longer works btw for google.com). Some things I would add to this would be:

Directory submittions.
Link Building Campagns
PPC Adword campagns if needed.
Client Login to area to get stats specificly on there SEO profile.
Client login will include there Stats for the kw's optimized for, current position, howmany backlinks in each relevent SE, Click Through Conversion Rate ...and a few more ...

This is of course just a start, some yes , we deffinetly have to come up with some unique ideas, but I think with a good marketing plan, and a good identity, it may be worth a shot.

For directory submissions you can just outsource it. There's a lot of people here with software that will submit to a few thousand directories and they actually work relatively well.

Since when has Web Position stopped working for Google? It still works fine in our office. Chances are your IP got blocked from running too many queries, there's settings in Web Position to prevent that.

How do you plan to build links for clients?

Can you PM me the name of the company you work for? It sounds like a firm I know and I'm just curious to see if it is.
