One of my site traffic has been increased its position has also become 5 as previously it was on 9th position in Google search results. But the site PR has been decreased from PR 4 to PR3. What do you think about that why this happens?

    Please give your valuable suggestion.

    Thanks

Could it be banned for link selling? PR bans don't affect SERPs.

The PR drop took place for many site. And who knows why? Even Google won't. Don't worry about it.

Your ranking will go up when the anchor text of your link campaign start taking affect. So keep getting links with the proper anchor text. You will do fine.

But please stop worring about Page Rank. That is only SEO bragging rights. PR3s take PR5s all the time.

Don't sweat the PR drop - this can be effected by so many things. The increase in the SERPs tells you that you're doing things correctly so focus more on that. And, congrats on the SERP climb.

The PR has no effect on your SERP's. I have a site that is in first for an excellent keyword and its beating wikipedia's pr 8 page, in which my site is a PR2.

The Pr is unpredictable. Maybe a wack load of sites that are the same, in your niche started to promote their site a lot causing your site to just not seem as powerful.

To the above two posts, yes Pagerank plays a factor in search results; just not the factor you would assume. Lets think for a second, what is one of the primary factors in search results? Hmmm... lets go with inbound links, now considering Pagerank is the system used by Google to "give value to a specific web page" it can be generally assumed that by gaining more "high quality" (higher pagerank) relevant backlinks would give much more value than 1000s of useless low quality non-relevant backlinks. Pagerank plays the indirect factor on top of the inbound link factor.

To answer the original posters question; you probably lost one or two links that passed on a lot of Pagerank juice, try looking through your external links report in Google Webmasters Central and see if you notice anything missing, or perhapes a linking site started using the nofollow attribute in their outbound links. Either way, your not dropping in the SERPs so why question it.... welcome to SEO ;)

Toolbar pagerank changes every few months but SERPS are fluctuating all the time. I have suspected for a long time that the toolbar pagerank people tend to discuss is worse than useless in the respect that not alone does it not reflect a page's importance but it also causes plenty of confusion.

I think this confusion suits Google's purposes perfectly.

Pagerank changes behind the scenes constantly, the "visible" Pagerank you see in the toolbar is actually not current data, and never will be.

Your site may have been a weak PR4 so a drop to a strong PR3 will not be much of a difference.

PR can result in relevancy in content targeting on your site, or on other sites you link to, and the sites they link to, and so on, and so on... It's just one point, don't worry.

Ummm, Pagerank has nothing to do with the relevancy of the link. It's the quality of the link itself... meaning how many web pages link to it vs the quality of those specific web pages.

Do some reading on Pagerank: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank

Straight from Google: PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important".

It is possible that your quality back links decreased. That is why PR gets down.

Back links is the process which you have to continuous follow. Once you have built some good back links and than you stopped it is not the right way. Check back links of your site, if you have enough time than do it manually. And i think traffic is important point for you and with good SERP position you are getting it. So do not worry.

Because of PR your ranking position will not be affected.

i think the reason of your PR loss is because of the backlinks. get some quality links so you could gain your PR.
nothin' to worry about the SERP, it won't get affected.
