I really hope I'm posting this in the right section, I couldn't find anything on Google about my problem. My shift key hasn't been working for a while now, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When it isn't working it acts as some sort of shortcut button, it will usually make me go back to the site I was previously on when I'm using a browser and other times it shows extremely strange numbers/codes such as + 135789 135789 13578+=p Does anybody know what's causing this and how I can fix it?
Yes, when I'm typing here or in my address bar I first get those numbers and after pressing the shift key a certain number of times it will bring me back to the page I was previously on or select links on the page I'm on at the moment. I also have this problem outside browsers.
Are you using a laptop or an external keyboard? My first though is that you have a short in your keyboard and it needs to be replaced. In a far less likely scenario you have installed software or a virus that has remapped the keyboard. If that is the case a virus scan might help.
The other one isn't working either.. If it were a keyboard issue, why does this only happen from time to time. it's a brand new laptop.
Yeah.. but the reason I bought this laptop in the first place was because my previous laptop stopped working and I didn't send it in to get fixed because I couldn't live without a laptop. Anyway, the shift key is mysteriously working again. I wish I knew what caused/fixed it.
Told You It is a Ghost .. Looks like a ghost has somekind of a (CRUSH) on you Congrats .. Some Ghost is in Love now
Test it with an external usb keyboard first. It's very cheap nowadays. If it working fine with the external keyboard, you know that you need to replace the keyboard on your laptop.
Thanks for all the help everyone It's working fine at the moment, I hope it stays that way for a while. When it started I kept getting the Sony Vaio shortcut screen instead of the strange numbers. Is it possible that a certain key combination could have activated it?
