What is a free and popular html editor ? what is the best. I am interest most are using. I want to use it to edit WP templates. is that what I should be looking for ?
Edit+ http://www.editplus.com/ It has an evaluation popup reminding you to register when you start the program, but you can just bypass it by clicking a button.
Sorry but I have choosen to stay away from those kind of programs, I was hoping for something like open source ... they are so many .... I was hoping for answers what everyone is using ....
If it really has to be free I would recommend 1st Page 2000, which you can download here: http://www.evrsoft.com/ I used to use that all the time and found it easy and functional. Now I use HomeSite, which is a nice code editor from Macromedia. I believe it retails for about $99, but they have a free 30-day trial: http://www.adobe.com/products/homesite/ Recently I tried a code editor plugin for Firefox, because I thought it would be cool to be able to do all my html editing and ftp right from my browser, but I couldn't get the hang of it. I think it was called FireBug. Duh, and actually I just re-read your post. If you're really looking for free, why don't you just edit the template right through the wordpress "Theme Editor" page?
I'm using pharse5 don't know if you may have herad of ot'S a really good editor in my opinion and it's freeware. on my mac I'm using smurltron which is also free
Hi! I usually use Kompozer when I only need to edit basic html pages. It's quick, user friendly and open source. Check it out here: www*nvu*com (replace all * with .) Regards! /Rob
You could search http://www.freshmeat.net for free software. Bluefish seems to be quite popular in the open source community. But honestly, I recommend against HTML editors. Unless you knows exactly what you are doing, it's not a good idea to write HTML yourself. If you want to publish, I'd suggest getting a CMS and not waste time on design.
Note Pad is quite a good one, it comes free with Microsoft, if you are starting from beginning, try using it. Helps you get a good foundation for HTML and stuff....
http://www.kompozer.net/ is a nice and easy editor. (An unofficial bugfix/update of Nvu is called "KompoZer")
