    Hi

I am looking for hosting and found hostmonster.
Just want to hear from DP members who are using hostmonster, what are your experiences?

    Any downtimes? how's their support?

btw, is there any limit on how many files you can have? Some shared hosting have limit of only having 50k files in your account.

    Thanks everyone

Mods, i couldn't find a better category for this question, if it's not, please move it to a better category.

I hosted with Hostmonster for few months and their support is excellent and I didn't have any downtimes with them for 7 months, they are infact a Good Hosting Company.

You are correct they have a 50k limit for the actual NUMBER of files on one account.

I used hostmonster as a backup to some of my critical files. The support is great and down time is nil. I recommend them.

    HM has been great..
I have a plan with them from about 5 months..
It rocks! Just have 1 website hosted with them and its really fast ;)

They are down for about 7-10 mins/week(hardly makes a different) and speeds are super fast!!

But if your going for a large website, say a forum like DP or something which will have 200+ users online.. its not recommended..

Ive seen PrimeBux.com go down several times when they cross 250+ online members..(Its a Bux site)
Bux sites are not very heavy but require alot of CPU + SQL resources.. So avoid HM..

You can try Media Temple or Datagram

    Good Luck! :)

that's pretty bad for me, as I am hosting 10 domains, it will be a big problem for me. Anyone know any other reputable company, that has atleast 75k limit or more.

    Thanks

I asked their support and thats what i heard, Usually people who have small sites dont go over that limit but if you have a big site, or hosting more than 10 sites, you can easily go over that limit.

    Hostgator also has that limit.

How about AnHosting, according to their customer support, they don't have a limit on the amount of files you can host.

All hosting companies are overselling, the majority of their users have small websites that don't consume too much resources.

I personally haven't used hostmonster but my friend had a site hosted by it which loaded quickly. Also, the 50,000 file limit shouldn't be too much of a restriction, unless you're doing a file uploading type website.

1&1 accepts Paypal and their customer support says that there is no limit on the amount of files you can host with them.

I've heard some people that have had issues with 1&1 regarding domain names, but not web hosting.
