Going to buy some new web site hosting. What should I look for in a hosting company before I buy? Thanks again Bill
Depends on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend. If you need a lot of hand holding, you should make sure the company has a friendly helping technical support team. If your website needs to be highly available, you should for a reliable webhost with quality hardware, competent system administrators, quality network, a server level agreement, etc. What I would do if I were you is just read around a bit on webhostingtalk.com and look for hosts that fit you and meet your needs.
Look these hosts :- 1. www.hostgator.com - for small business 2. www.bluehost.com - for all type business 3. www.liquidweb.com - best vps 4. www.theplanet.com - best dedicated server.
In hosts, look for reviews and test how well their customer support and services are. Just don't rush into a host without checking its reputation. Remember giving new hosts a chance will also result in fast support/service and might reward you in the long run All my hosts are new 'unheard' ones. I've had no problem with them yet. I just find the deals on DP.
Hostgator is very good ( you can give a worth try just for once cent first month using this promo code " Wordpress" but Their supporting service wasn't very first class last few days. You also can Try hostmonster.com .
Read some review online and look for award winning hosts. You'll find a few that're good including Hostgator and Hostmonster.
Support is the key in selecting a host. I was hosting with a major company and when I needed immediate support I got a message service. Needless to say, I dropped them and went with a great company HostGator where I have a dedicated server. Support is excellent.
I agreed with you Kybob, Support is extremely vital in a ISP/Host. Read some reviews (like the one's listed here, some great recommendations!)
they give you the best value for your money if you dont have special needs like a VPS because you want your own dedicated ip adress and simlar. /Rob
I sugest a medium size host or small, most offer better support, big companies are big oversellers . Check the CPU usage limit more than disk space and bandwidth. at x % CPU used you are out doesn't matter if you have 2/3 space and bandwidth unused, that is marketing strategy, to oversell.
I don't see CPU mentioned in hostgator and others, all they mention disc space and bandwidth, How do you find out CPU and what does CPU stands for infact?
