Well you are wrong http://my8.statcounter.com/project/standard2/camefrom_activity.php?project_id=3948285&start=40 btw its not HTTP. Some more info here http://www.google.com/search?q=oval...ox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLJ
That link is not working. Did you change the settings and provide the statcounter link to your public stats - not just the link to that page? The public stats link would look like this: my.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?project_id=XXXXXX&guest=1
Got what you meant. Here is the link my.statcounter.com/project/standard/stats.php?project_id=3948285&guest=1 Then go to recent came from (page3 ) or maybe page4 check urself.
I was wrong. It is certainly in your stats as a referrer. You did not fake anything. Thanks for sharing the stat link! Not to burst your bubble, but it looks like it is just a bot using fake/spoofed referrer. Looking at that visitor they are using Aopa as their ISP and this IP 208.27.40.35. I am not all that sophisticated with this stuff so I really don't know what it is. Dude, Chill.. Thats just the referring URL.. Just open any official website, type your URL in the address bar.. HIT ENTER.. Done! You get a visitor added to your stats from tht website Nice one.. =D
Really ? If that was so easy try opening the referring url and do that again. Its impossible to fake as the site does not even open up for us. Maybe its open just to people in the whitehouse. Btw I am removing the public stats for now.
Omg .. What's the point of all this stuff ? We all know that no one from White House will visit your site
No, you don't. There is no referrer carried in the headers in such a case. As one person said, it's just referrer spoofing. A number of people browse while spoofing their referrer in order to increase traffic to their websites (people go "hey, why's that site sending me traffic?" and click on it) or to gain extra low quality backlinks (sites with publicly accessible and g-crawled stats pages)
