If May Image Name IS " sample-good-great.jpg " then what is good for alt tag? 1 ) sample-good-great.jpg 2) sample good great.jpg 3) sample-good-great 4) sample good great
1 & 2 - definitely no 3 & 4 - okay from my side - there is not much difference to SEO between space and hypen - so you can use any of them.
Of those options, I'd go for number 4, unless the hyphens were actually part of the word rather than just signifying a space.
If I want to add more then one keyword in my alt tag then I'll use hyphens otherwise go with option 4th
"sample good great" would be the correct one if this is your keyword phrase. I would also Title Case the phrase - "Sample Good Great" Also, there is a Mozilla Firefox and the alt Attribute Issue here. If you use the alt attribute in Firefox on images and image maps the text will not show on mouse-over as in other browsers. Firefox uses the alt attribute the way it's meant to be used, like an alternative text if the image won't load, not as a mouse-over text. Firefox does support mouse-over comments on images or image maps if you use a title attribute in the <img> tag. I would suggest that you do the following: <img src="image.gif" alt="Sample Good Great" title="Sample Good Great">
the alt tag should be targeted phrases, titles that the user will use the find you, the simple the better, a focus tag is a real help in seo. Obviously you can use more tags, from 1-6 to focus your page, dave
