i am facing a strange problem I can make new posts... but when i am trying to make a new post with content about "air duct cleaning" and enter publishe- it takes me to a search page and says nothing found. I can make new posts with other contents but this seems weird.. any idea ? i am using wordpress
What do you mean by "content". Is that your post title, slug, what? Also, what is the Url of the 404 page?
url of 404 page is site.com/wp-admin/post.php - yeh post.php doesnt exist i tried to do with same title but no article - it worked but when i add the article/content - it shows not found.
Are you trying to embed php code or javascript into the body of the article? Anything unusual that you have not done before?
nope,, this is something strange.. its a normal text article.. If I write something else with same permalink/title - it gets posted. But if I post that particular article - it doesn't Very strange..
This content you're trying to add to your post, are you copying it from a Microsoft Word document or something like that? Maybe some strange format is being passed to Wordpress when you paste the article to the editor and it's generating this bug.
I tried that too.. i made a blank post.. Then edited and added "that" content... redirects me to not found... I made 1-2 new blogposts, no problem with them..
It is from DP PM.. i pasted even in text html editor.. though same.. BTW the article is about air duct cleaning.
Try this: Go to your Admin area for Users. Select the User Profile you are using to post with (Admin maybe, if there are no others). On the Profile page, uncheck the "Visual Editor" option. Save your profile, and try again.
OK the problem is solved. I went slowly and kept adding small paragraph one after another.. The last paragraph was creating problem. Then i kept adding each line and saving it.. And finally found that the below line was preventing me to make the post "These range from heavy duty cleaners that are mounted on trucks and vans, to portable, lightweight vacuums that can be easily moved up and down stairs." I never faced such a weird problem in my 2years of blogging life
yeah this was one of the strangest issues I have heard...its good that the prob is solved...but wonder whats there in these lines
All I know is when I read those lines backwards, I woke up on somebody elses couch .... in Philadelphia. Sheesh, I wasn't even on the right coast!
lol@ Dodger @ Meethere I wonder if it is an issue of copy/paste from one program into WP. I have had issues like that. Sometimes it's as simple as a lousy extra space that somehow garbles the code. Especially if you are using tinymce (sp?) advanced. Or dreamweaver. Some programs are notorious for garbling code (or text). If that happens again, make sure you are copying from a plain text editor. I use TextPad.
@Dodger @larke - i was posting from a simple text editor, and also posted in html editor(not visual) of wp.. Nobody knows what's the secret with that line and so I removed that
Try pasting that line into Windows' Notepad, copy it again from Notepad and paste it into your post. I've found that when you paste something into Notepad, it removes every weird format and converts it again into simple text. That should help. Most of HTML editors don't do this, so maybe that's why you were facing that problem again even after pasting it into your html editor.
it seems there is some other problem. when i am adding blogroll, it again redirects to nothing found page I repaired database, still the same problem.
Jeez dude, you are having one hell of a week! This could be a nasty problem to track down too. Could be a corrupt WP core file, a lousily written plug-in, or just about anything. Have you tried disabling all of your plug-ins and adding to your blogroll?
Was going to say too, disable plugins and see if there's something going on there. This can be tedious, you may need to do it one by one. Remove, test, remove, test, rinse, repeat... Obviously, if there's a plugin you've installed lately (theme even), that may be a good place to start. Make sure you have updated to the latest WP version, database too. Good luck with this. I know what it's like!
Ok, this is not a simple thing. I believe that your Wordpress setup is corrupted. Try what Larke said (disable all plugins and test them one by one). If that doesn't work, do any of the following: -> If you're not running the latest version of WP, upgrade now. It's quite possible that you're watching a bug that has been already patched. -> Back up your files and databases, uninstall Wordpress, manually reinstall it (don't use Fantastico!! I encountered some issues with my WP setup when I installed the last version using it) and restore your database and files again.
