right guys i used to be addicted to gambling and i had a relaps the other day, now what i did was so stupid i xc my DD with paypal and transfered money which i did not have to a gambling site. This makes up to about £600 i know it was stupid and cant sleep for worry, they have sent me a email to tell me they have limited my account. What should i do and what will happen please help.
Pay back the money, cut your debit card in two and return to your bank, no matter is better than with card if you are prone to relapsing. It is lucky that you only lost £600. Consider it a lesson to it. Gamblers never wins, it is the casinos that always wins.
yeah bassically i transfered money from one of my paypal accounts to another so that i could transfer it to a gambling web site, paypal went to my bank and could not get the money but let me pay it to the gambling site. What will paypal do to me i cannot afford to pay it back at this moment, i get paid next week but it would be 2-3 months before i could pay that back.
another thing i am worried about is they sent a email about money laundering but i dont have any money to launder lol. Will paypal call the police or just issue a debt letter.?
This is the modern day version of cheque kiting ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_fraud#Cheque_kiting ) and it is illegal so paypal could take legal action. I would say your paypal account is done for sure and they will get aggressive in convincing you to pay the money back. Best of luck in getting this resolved quickly!
thanks for the advise i dont mind paying it back it was stupid. Dont really care that they will close my account but was worried they would phone the police
Well, maybe if they call the police you can explain the hole think and you will be able to cut a deal whit paypal , but they like to make examples of people......
no normally they dont call the police or take legal action.. first they will try to settle things with you and if you refuse to pay then they might call the police... so its better you pay them back as soon as possible to avoid more trouble...
I would agree. If paypal thinks that you will pay them back quickly they are unlikely to take legal action. Let them know that you are sincere and will repay it as quickly as possible.
So I take it you didn't win on the gambling site, or we wouldn't be having this discussion? Not the smartest thing to do, but I think you already know that. See if you can borrow money from a friend or family to pay that back. I'd rather owe someone I know, then have Paypal or a bank on my ass.
first they will send lots of emails for 3 or 4 months and then they may call... and if still not return there money then they might take action... but legal action will take lots of time... and so paypal dont want to go there.... most of the time people pay when they call...
It is not worth their legal fees and troubles to sue over 600 pounds. Though the OP can hope to be banned for life from Pay Pal if he did not pay up, I guess.
It's probably a You vs. Your bank situation right now anyway because I know my bank would give paypal the requested money even if it was in account or not and I would just be in the hole and they would then hound me for the money.
Forget PayPal, they play by the rules. I'd be more concerned about "the gambling website" getting a payment reversal from PayPal. They might have "friends" in the UK (or wherever you are). Or even worse, friends that can trace your IP back to your home via your ISP. Say hello to your new Russian boyfriends Gambling is for losers. And worse still, you gambled money you couldn't afford to lose.
