Hi, is there a limit to the number of back links you should gain in say a month, I mean a maximum not minimum or doesn't it matter, as with directories for example they approve them at different rates. Thanks Dee
If they are relevant quality backlinks the sky is the limit, it shows a page is increasing in popularity. However, web directories are low quality useless backlinks in my eyes. 100,000 non-quality, non-relevant backlinks can be beat out by 1,000 quality backlinks.
Links from bad neighbourhoods like FFA pages and link farms can get you in trouble fast. Links from relates sites will boost your ranking. Reputable directories should not be a concern. Just don't get involved with link schemes.
a lot non-qualitey backlinks or lots of backlinks in a short time will send your site to the sandbox as soon as you cant think..
I think that as long as your links are honest links (one way, related or directories), there is no limit. It can't be that the algorithm is set to a specific number. Let's a new popular tv program starts, like American Idol. Isn't is normal that they gain thousands of links in a month time? Or like now with the Olympic games. The official website is undoubtedly getting lots of links this month. First, always make sure that the links you are trying to get are genuine links. Then worry about the quality. What is better, 5 high-quality links or 500 directory links? That is not a question to ask. You need them all! As for doing directory submissions, there is no problem at submitting to 500 directories in a single day. Like Dee2007 says: They will need time to approve. Some will approve in 24 hours and others in 6 months. You won't gain the links in a single day.
Thanks guys, I didn't think there was a max limit, all my back links are honest, I would never participate in link schemes. I have another question which may not be so easy to answer. If you need to increase 1 position in the SERPS, approx how many more back links would be needed to achieve this? I know it maybe like asking how long is a piece of string I also know it's not just about back links but I am also doing all the other stuff. Dee
Easy. If you type the target search term in google in quotation marks you will see how many websites are competing for the exact phrase. If the number is under 1,000 then you have a good chance of getting #1 with only a few backlinks from related sites or blogs if your targeted keyword matches the anchor text. To do this you will need backlinks from popular blogs or authoritative sites. The ranking of your site should change within a few days, seriously.
Hi well there is over 30,000 for the main keyword There really are no blogs that are dedicated to the exact keywords, I di have my own but it's brand new. "authoritative sites", it's hard to find sites like this in my very small niche. Thanks Dee
Go from about 10 per day then multiply by 1.3 to 1.4 per day. First Week: Day 1 - 10 Day 2 - 14 Day 3 - 19 Day 4 - 26 Day 5 - 36 Day 6 - 50 Day 7 - 70 First week over-all: 225 links
Hmmm... I think, that to start off your campaign: Quality link : 4 blog/article links or 6 directory submissions Always look for as many quality links from related sites and then try to get like 1:3/4 ratio of good:blog/article/directory links...
Hi, sorry should of been clearer, this isn't the start of my campaign, I have already managed to get position 3 on Google out of the 30,000, but I want to get to position 1 or at least 2, I just need to know the best way to give myself that little jump But as I said my niche is VERY small, so there are no blogs I can post on. Thanks Dee
Some people say that there is a limit to how many you should build, i think they are full of themselves. I have had great luck building 1k+ links a week on brand new domains and have yet to ever see a page let alone a website deindexed. Just don't submit to link farms, porn sites, etc. and you should be fine.
you need to trade links for 20 to 50 back links per day because you will do link farm more than do relevant links.
Thanks Guys Bloomtools, would you mind explaining that bit more as I don't understand this part "because you will do link farm more than do relevant links"? I don't use link farms. Dee
If I may suggest that if you have a new site, then you should keep it to ~50 per month. Google will jump on you. As you site ages, then start increasing the link count. If you obtain the links from a Link vendor, then they must be "on topic" or they will be discounted by the SEs. Also, keep close tabs on where the links are placed. If it is on a PR0 page, then it has no value. So getting a 1,000,000 of them still equals 0. And if the content on these page is junk or just links it will hurt you. And, make sure that there is not a NoFollow attribute attached or upstream. Then the link will never be indexed by Google.
Hi, no this is not a new site, thanks for all your imput I have one final question, what is the policy on directories, the ones that offer free submissions are these for a lifetime or do they need to be resubmitted, say each year? or does it vary depending on the directory? Thanks Dee
