Which one is better?
Which one is easier to install and get running?
Which one is easier to maintain, change themes, run?

Thanks!

Hey, Vbulletin is best and if you want vbulletin, it is $180 per one year, But I can give you vbulletin 7.2 for less rates. The script is fully nulled. I can give you many addons for free, like banner rotating, top banner, bottom banner, category banner, posting banner,. If you interested contact me at yahoo: creatingforums

100% vote for PhpBB.

To be honest, I haven't used SMF but I found phpbb easy to maintain, change themes and everything.

Go for it.

If you ever need any help regarding phpbb, come and ask me. Will be pleased to help you :)

Have used phpbb in the past. Was very easy to use and install, although i'd recommend you use vBullentin if you have the money. Seems to be the best around for SEO purposes.

Yes you are right, but everyone would suggest to start with free softwares and when your forum will grow and you get more members THEN go for a paid software and upgrade to VB.

I prefer MyBB forums. It looks like a VBulletin clone, free of cost, support themes and mods, has active community, etc.

I think PhpBB is better because of the customization you can make and the available and the free themes and hacks . their support is great , they try to help each one use their software .

you know i asked the exact same question about phpbb or smp

I will go for SMP because recently i just started to use SMP
it's better than PHPbb

Someone mentioned to me that phpbb is very easy to get hacked so

but Vbullentin is the final choice if you want something better and easier for the users

PHPBB and SMP all have some serious problems
for example. I think this is very very annoying for users

so here is it. when you want to add img or link
you click the link button, ok, then SMP or PhpBB will insert this code

Code (markup):
or
[ /img]
Code (markup):
into your text field. what next, you have to do some editing
if you want to add link , you will have to do this

Code (markup):
^^this is annoying^^

with vbullentin when you click add link, a window pops up, then just type in the website address, your are done

thats why free lunch never taste good.
If your forum have lot of traffics, go for Vbullentin

Wow! Ok, well I started with SMF - but there was something that made me mad (can't remember now haha), so I uninstalled and put in PhPbb. I got some help from glitto (thank you!) and have it mostly set up. I think. :D

However, boddog you are so right. I can't get images to work. It just says "image" with a link to the freaking image. Still fighting with this...
