Changing DNS Hurts SEO?

We are moving to VPS from a shared host. With VPS, we are changing the IPs and DNS of our websites. When DNS is being changed, would the change hurt search engine ranking?

It will hurt like a drop of water into the pacific ocean, so the answer officially is yes lol. But nah it really doesn't matter.

No it won't hurt. All the search engines will see is your IP has changed. Your URLs will stay the same so there will be no effect. My sites grew so fast the first year I had to change servers twice (from shared hosting, to virtual dedicated, to a pure dedicated server). No effect whatsoever...except that my response times got better, the search engines spidered me more, and the traffic continued to grow.

One caution, it can take 24 to 48 hours to replicate your IP throughout all the routers in the internet that might have it cached, so leave the site up on the old IP for a few days after you've changed DNS. That way routers that still have your old IP in cache (and haven't read the new DNS) will find your site.

I changed my sites IPs quite a few times and no it doesn't really hurt any seo. The site still ranks for what it does.

Rather Its 301 redirects that will hurt seo. If you change your domain , your site most likely will be droped for period of time (like month or so)
