I have heard that adsense doesn't works well with a forum. Some ppl told me the best place it at the top n in the signatures.

    Looking for more ideas/comments.

    Thanks

I think the format offered by DP is the best around. Maybe you can also try serving ads in between forum sections and see how they perform.

I found the Navigation Bar using link units to be the best place on forums.

also DP forums have some adsense in the middle of threads, this would seem to make sense as users have to scroll down to read threads and in doing so will also view some adsense

I've seen forms that put adsense inside the posts. I think this technique can get some accidental clicks.

    thanks for the replies

it would be great, if someone can share his personal experience, as the admins forums that i know, often complain that they dont make anything (much) from the adsense. so is there anyone who is making as much from adsense, as he is making from his other sites ?

while the income is not as good as a regular site, i have had some success using adsense in my forum. i place a link unit just above the top navigation bar and also a 728x90 between the 1st and 2nd post. i haven't experimented very much at all but i have almost recovered the expense for the vbulletin software in about 4 months with adsense.

you should look around at different forums such as digitalpoint and get some ideas.

i would assume that they would convert well for the reason you posted but i haven't tried that. you may want to check the adsense tos regarding this since it seems like a little sneaky way to get extra link clicks. if they allow it then it definitely seems like a good idea.

ive use them in forums, they work very well for me, mainly because i place one at the top right hand corner like DP and one in the middle of every post, so when users are reading they may think its someones signature or just click it by accident, and one at the footer.

still amazes me how popular it is. I think it's hideous and a headache to look at with all the ads

For any page ... Right is the center of the fold is a good place.

Adsense hasnt worked that great for me on forums as members are ad blind.

I think DP ad placement looks good. Or you can try to put a ad unit at the top of your forum. I suggest you try different ad placements and see which ad unit performs the best.

click ratio is low for forums according to my experience. We tried it on the top.
