I'd say NOD32 if your extremely paranoid, other wise go for kaspersky.

NOD32 uses less resources, and Kaspersky is slightly better at finding viruses.

    Kaspersky costs $60 while NOD32 costs $50

Avg is all I have used for years. And use the best virus scanner of all common sense. Dont open files from anywhere without scanning them first, Dont download porn! It is cheap enough just buy it. Do not download mp3's with kazaa or bearshare or whatever. And if you use torrents only get them from private sites with feedback on every download. like bithq or demonoid.

AVG 8 was hated by many websites and webmasters for it's scanning of, well... basically "The Internet". Not sure if they fixed that yet, but I haven't found anything better than NOD32. Not that I need it, being on Macs, but when my dad still ran Windows I wanted something bulletproof for him (to save me on IT support phone calls ). NOD32 is the best out there right now, IMO. Luckily, he's since seen the light, too..

I haven't used it myself but my brother uses that one and as far as i know he hasn't had any problems. I tend to use AVG. Like many things its down to personal preference really.

i don't understand this, just download and burn linux free and then install it on your computer, Ubuntu + compiz fusion is great plus i have no virus problems to worry about anymore.

If you are talking about the FREE and open source ones, then I'll say that Avast Home Edition is the best. If you are talking about the PAID ones, then I'll say that BitDefender and Kaspersky are the top two AV softwares.
